I'd like to have seen you guys get a few more bucks an hour but, hey, improvement is improvement. Good on ya for that and kudos for not voting in a concessionary contract. Congrats.
 
What's bs about it? ASA is in negotiations now and we have been for over 27 months with virtually no progress. In this economic climate, I believe from what I hear, this is a good contract with good QOL improvements. One less bar we have to keep falling to the ground. Congrats on the new contract fought hard for.
 
curious, where did you get the numbers from? i haven't received any blastmail, etc yet. i believe the numbers are fairly accurate however. oh well.
 
ExpressJet MEC Special UPDATE
November 18, 2004

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is Capt. Mark Leneski, XJT MEC Chairman, with an ExpressJet special update for Thursday, November 18, 2004. There is one item for review.


ITEM 1: ExpressJet Tentative Agreement 2004 Results

The voting results for the ExpressJet 2004 Tentative Agreement have been tallied and verified.

The Tentative Agreement has passed with 61% of the pilot group voting to ratify the TA. 94% of the ExpressJet pilot group cast a vote for our new contract.

I would like to personally thank the XJT Negotiating Committee, Strategic Preparedness Committee, P2P Committee and Family Awareness Committee for their extraordinary efforts over the past 3 ½ years. Through the efforts of these pilots we have achieved a contract that is truly industry leading.

I would also like to thank the ExpressJet pilots that volunteered their time and effort for this agreement. Without their efforts on informational picket lines, as P2P members and through special MEC volunteer projects, this contact could never have become a reality. It is also important to note that these while these volunteers fought for the rights of all ExpressJet pilots, they remained true professionals in every aspect of their careers.

The responsibilities of the XJT Negotiating Committee are not yet complete. In conjunction with the Contract Enforcement Committee, the NC will begin implementing our new contract. With the many changes that our new agreement provides, preparation in protecting the rights of our pilots will be a large undertaking. An undertaking that I am confident our Negotiating Committee can provide.

As we move forward in an uncertain airline industry under our new contract, let us always remember that the unity of this pilot group, your pilot group, will continue to allow us the ability to thrive as an airline and as a brotherhood of professional pilots.

I was calling bs on the numbers because I hadn't received a blast mail or any "official" news. Thought it was flamebait. However, MJG is right. Wow, faster than alpa.org!! Sorry for calling bull$hit on you.

What will you talk about? At Mesaba we just b!tch about the contract and how (if you voted no) how you voted no and stuff like that. The people who don't have the ba!!s to admit they voted yes will complain and the people that voted yes and admit it, will also complain. The company will still beat you down, so you'll have that to talk about too. The intitial shock of actually having a new contract will wear off... and you'll realize your contract isn't that bad... and even though you don't have better than Comair wages you still got a pretty good contract. You'll have to defend your contract for a little while to the likes of people who are just too stupid to realize a COmair + contract in this day and age is never going to happen. You'll also have to remind people that your contract is not concessionary, despite not having COmair + wages.

Allow me to congratulate you on the success of your efforts on behalf of the XJT pilots.

While I don't think your new contract is "industry leading", I do think that it is a very substantial improvement over your former contract. In the current environment I think you and your team did a very good job and should be complimented. It's a good Agreement.

How is being paid less than Comair (who are already underpaid), gaining nothing on DPM, and no rigs not lowering the bar? I can't believe only about 800 of us voted 'no'.

We get CMR pay rates from 10/1/02 - 12/1/04 for our work performed.

Then on 12/1/04 we take a paycut to the contract rate table for all new work performed.

Exactly. Then the soft time kicks in. I argue that if I just fly my average line, my W-2 will be SLIGHTLY higher than the same average pilot at Comair for the same year. Time will tell. I could be correct, I could be smoking crack. We will not know for a year.

Just like the turbocharger on my 1979 pinto. The company is "going to work" on your lovely soft time as we type. They will rape and gut your TA and most of my union reps stand by and let them do it. We will be left with shi**y pay tables and 12 days off for everyone. You will probably be at CAL anyways. I won't need to wait a year to tell you that.

For all the talk SOME, and I mean SOME of you did on this board, you sure did not "raise the bar" like you said you would. I for one think you did a good job, but where are all the Comair + something people? Where oh where have you gone?

Still here. I voted no, but unfortunately not enough of us did. Yes it is sad but life goes on I guess, just not as good as I had hoped.

I'm still here, too . . . wondering why more of my brethren don't have the dignity and/or balls to stand up for themselves. As for the 'cheese with your whine' comment . . . this is not whining, this is disgust. Is it possible that the AFA has more balls than 'we' do? Man, this makes twice in just over two weeks I've been a part of the correct minority in a vote . . . what're ya thinking, people?!

I was thinking that, but wasn't going there. Maybe as pilots we just have more to lose, but I've watched it happen at MSA, then XJET, and now with PCL starting Section 6 in 6 short months, I fear we're seeing the writing on the wall and we'll be the 3rd on the list to not live up to the rhetoric.

So much for "100 in 5", but hopefully your company won't mess with the "fuzzy math" as much as many of us believe.
