Would you guys post the Pros and Cons about the 3 bases at Xjt?

I'm looking for info on how much a newhire can plan to be on reserve at each base. Which base has better trips? Which base has most time off avaliable (with seniority)? What base is most easiest to commute to?

Also, would you guys be able to check to see what kind of time off the senior guys are getting?

Another thing, what kind of uniform does Xjet have? Similar to SKW/QX? Not that it matters, but just can't recall now.

I just looked at Jan's bid and it looks like the most junior lineholder for all the bases was hired around May of 2004. That does not include extra Reserve conversion or relief lines which are lines in and of themseleves. Here is how it laid down:

Base Hire date
CLE 4/8/04
EWR 4/26/04
IAH 5/10/04

IAH is where the big growth is. 460 lines expected this summer.
CLE will probably never get much bigger 140 +/- 5 lines year round
EWR about 200 with the prospect of expanding to 220 this summer.

I would say 5-6 months as a good bet, maybe less depending on the time of year your hired. If your hired early spring then you may sit reserve less. If your hired by late summer next year then you might go right into the fall/winter schedule reduction and sit reserve longer. Hope that helps chief.

As far as time off. I'm about 50% (77/140lines) in CLE as an FO and I'm getting 15 days off with weekends and X-mas and New years off as well. XJT's vacation contract is second to none. I'm not gonna go into it, but you can turn a week of vacation into 2 weeks easy with our vacation deal. As far as upgrade goes you will probably hold CA in EWR 1st then IAH, and a distant 3rd(last) is CLE.

Our uniforms Are identical to big CAL except we are changing wings and hat brass at this time. WE used to look like really young and inshape CAL pilots:D . Oh and you'll probably see most of us in a leather jacket as well.

Good luck to you. I hope everything goes smooth and to your liking in your pursuit of employment.

Cleveland will end up with 160 lines when we get our summer flying back. Reserve seems to last about 10 months in CLE.

160 lines in CLE?:D Shirley your not serious!

2 summers ago that is where we peaked. Last summer we hit 160 one month but then took a 20 line hit when the runway construction in EWR and CLE reduced the systemwide flying. I talked to the CLE line builder and he said that we should see a return to the old amount (hopefully squeezing out a few more).

Thanks for the informative post! Looks like as an FO IAH would be a good base to go to. How long did it take for you to make 50% seniority? Also, is commuting on CAL easy being an Xjet pilot? Looks like EWR/IAH will be a 2 leg commute for me if I get on.
