Hello,
I was just curious if Expressjet has any requirement for instrument time and instrument currency?
I'm well over the minimums, however, I only have alittle over 100 instrument. My job is a VFR operation and I was never a CFI-I. I've done alot of co-pilot trips so I'm familiar with the radios and setting up an approach and I do enough to stay current. I 'm just not in the system everyday. Is this anything to be worried about?

We just go everywhere VFR anyway. (Just kidding) If your time reflects your ability you'll do fine. I've heard of jump pilots having a tough time in training programs but it is really an individual thing. Pretty much if you suck then no amount of recency of experience or hours in your logbook will help you. It might make you look more polished is a sim eval or give you a leg-up on your sim partner but in general the cream rises to the top.

If you passed a 135 IFR ride (single pilot?) at one point you're probably way ahead of the game.

I've never had a 135 IFR ride, I was close once though. I was training in our Navajo and I was just about ready and they sold the airplane.
Mainly just 135 VFR rides.
However, I've been seeing alot getting hired with alot less experience, so I guess lot of instrument time isn't that big of a deal.

I wouldnt worry about it, you can basically throw alot of what you know about flying instruments out the window anyway when you start flying the airplane because the scan on the glass is way different. If you know how to talk on the radio and not sound like a tool, youll be ok. This airplane is a whole nother beast to fly because of all the glass and automation, I wouldnt worry about being instrument current. Youll get instrument current quick in the thing.

Don't listen to this guy. If you don't have the basic knowledge to fly in an IFR environment, then you don't need to be flying a jet. Not only will you look like a complete moron, but you will also be putting your captain in a single pilot situation with 50 or 70 people in the back. All you will do is add yourself to the passenger count because that's all you will be, another passenger with a front row seat. And if you have a crappy scan, forget about. Just because its glass doesn't mean you can't commit the same scan errors you would commit with conventional gauges. Take this from a guy that went from CFI to VFR135 to IFR 135 to DA20FO to EMB-145FO to EMB-145CA. There is a reason why "they" want you to have experience. And that's why some folks at our regional are failing our type rides because they went from having little to no experience making decisions on their own to trying to make captain decisions.
 
i can assure you that IFR recency and experience will play a role in your interview if you get one. Be prepared to answer questions on your ttl ifr time. Also the amount of IFR in the last 90 days will be important.
