New vacancy out for Mesaba. Looking for 6 First Officers in MEM. The manager from Crew Planning is also history:beer:
Over 250 hours of open time just in DTW for FO's from now through the end of the month......

Like that wasn't long overdue. I suppose, however, that everything might have been orchestrated, and not actually due to incompetence. Or it was orchestrated incompetence.

Why bother with more recalls? I imagine most would continue to bypass, at least until January.

I would think that everyone had to be notified before they could post a vacancy. Do we really have that many people that will not come back?

i hear the saab class begins for the recalls on the 17th, not sure how many will be recalled. But that is from one of the guys who is coming back. Now thats a lot of open time. No wonder scheduling was so pissed when i called in sick.....i think we will be hurting even more during the holiday season...isnt this like suppose to be a slow time for air travel

So what's the completion factor been lately? I still haven't figured out why they furlouged 226, and have been jr. manning like crazy ever since. Doesn't that INCREASE payroll costs? Instead of paying some year 2 reserve guy, they have to JM people with 3+ years at time and a half...

R Johnson got canned or Workman?
Where could one confirm this wonderful news?

But who is going to cancel your vacation due to "unforeseen circumstances" this year?

I'm hoping for Workman.

Workman and Rick the Pr***

I'm hoping for both of them...nothing like having a pilot washout who dislikes pilots running your lives! He walks a little swishy too....
I still say it's time we grab our pitchforks and torches and burn them ALL out!

Prospective new-hire First Officers BEWARE!
This airline is a career black hole, from which you may never escape.

The same people who ran Eastern and Continental into the ground in the eighties are running nwa and mesaba now. Even if they announce new airplanes tomorrow, it will still be a trap for your career.

Abandon all hope, ye who fly here!

Don't forget about those hundreds of ex-Republic guys who hate Red Tail too.

Yaaa, it's nice when the alpa folks at mainline are not any better. They, like management, do not cook their meat( I stole that from an analyst guy) either.

I hear that our new alpa president, John Prater, may be a sign of hope to all in the fight. He may not be one to roll over and "live to fight another day".

Can you believe these So-called Leadership Team geniouses, and their lackeys (Randow, Workman, etc.). They entice furoughlees to come back by telling them that you will probably be furloughed again!
On the TA vote, I said NO.
They have failed twice to impose, and were ready to give up anything so long as they got their duration.
And, there are two appeals still out there!
I understand those who look at the numbers and say that they can live with it, but I just have a different view, and am NOT AFRAID of the consequences.

Im curious how the class for the recalls could start on November 17th, considering the recall letter was dated Nov. 7th and they are supposed to give 14 days notice before reporting for duty.

Also, out of the list of furloughees did they take the six most senior that wanted to come back, or did they pick and choose among those who wanted to come back. Lets say 20 wanted to come back but they took those who only need SF340 short course verses those who would have needed long course training?

I thought maybe only 6 said "yes". Unless you live in Memphis, there is absolutely no reason to agree to this cheesy recall.

"Um, yeah, we're going to need you to come in on Thanksgiving, and, uh, also, ah on Christmas, and, uh yeah, New Years Eve, and New Years Day, and, uh, your going to be on reserve in Memphis, and have to get your own hotel."

F#ck that sh!t.

From talking to some other higher senority furloughs. It doesn't sound like any of the Jan/Feb 06 involuntary furloughs were offered a recall. Not that most of us would take a recall at this point.

That's the reason I didn't accept the recall. I've got a few months of unemployment left, plus a fresh ATP certificate. I'm gonna keep looking for something better as long as I can. Also, I WON'T commute at Mesaba again. Especially to sit reserve over the holidays.

The latest ALPA update says the company feels 6 recalled people will be enough. So I guess 6 is the final number. I bet they only got 6 instead of the 20-30 they wanted, THEN decided they could make due with only 6.

Let me throw this out there, if they wanted 20 and only got six why didn't they come back through the recall list to give last chance letters? You would think management would have loved to see guys not come back and ramp up for hiring fresh year one new guys/gals.

When I talked to Barb in HR (the one recieving the ye or ne faxes from the furloughed) she said they already had 15 or so accepting a recall with one more day to respond.

So how many do they really need? 6 or 20? I guess those going back can look forward to flying all of December's open time. I highly doubt you would be sitting a whole lot.

Yeah, they'll probably be pretty busy, but they'll still work all the holidays, and commute to MEM (with NO help from XJ), and pay for their own rooms there whenever they aren't needed on an overnight.
