What is the upgrade time at express Jet? And what about the average time on reserve?

Does anyone know why they lowered minimums to 600? It doesnt seem like the majority of guys with 600 hours and 100 multi are experienced enough to fly rjs... im sure there are some who are ready but probably not the majority. What do the captains think about this?

i know that one big problem that expressjet has with the new hires is that it sounds like its the first time they have ever been on the radio on IOE. the minimums are so low because who in their right mind with more experience would go into a job that you pay to work.

No you don't pay to work at X-Jet! However they have to lower the mins because who in their right minds would want to work for $17,500/yr. Next year only goes up to $26K, and then $30K, then $31.5K, and possibly by late year 4 you can expect to upgrade and make $50K. I have no idea why they can't find enough qualified applicants.

How many repeatedly answered XJT questions can a poster post on here?

Nobody heard of search?

i think im going to get a job outside the field. make it a hobby and remember why growing up i always wanted to do this when i grew up. it was fun....

To answer your questions, pilots ugrading today have been here about 4.5 years. Nobody knows how long in will take a new-hire to upgrade, but I would guess that it will be longer than the current 4.5 years.

The other posters are correct on why the mins were lowered to 600 tt. Starting pay is $17, 600. Over 60% of new hires have required additional training. It has been entertaining to listen to some of the stories from the checkairmen who have been doing IOE recently.

Captains have just gotten use to having FO's with 2000+ hours in the jet rather than these new pilots with 20 hours. :)

Are they getting a new contract?

They Lowered their minimums because.....

They need to hit their quota of women to be hired. Lets figure this out.....it is getting towards the end of the year. They must fulfill their quota in order to not get blasted by the 99 club. Sad but true!

Do people still want to work at the regionals with upgrades being 4 - 5yrs away?
I know these numbers are close but does any one know about the rest of the regionals.

Lmao....not true! I have a couple of female friends that interviewed there and were not hired because they didn't meet all the "minimums" whether it be current multi time, flying job, whatever. They are hard on that, no matter what your gender is.

Well, you can't very well go right to the majors can you? Ask someone who started in the 80s how it was. It's a cyclical cycle and we're at the bottom.
