To All Commutair Pilots - Welcome to the Continental Family - I know there has been some bad blood between some of our pilots and yours- please do not believe that this is the Majority of our pilot group- in fact it is a very small minority- We welcome you and your pilot group- You are flying the line just as we fly the line - we do not control management nor do you - - None of these lines are struck work and you are not keeping people out of the cockpit of our RJs- The huge majority of our pilot group welcomes you and looks forward to working with you as an extension of the Continental Network - Welcome - Max

Ditto what Maxwell Smart said. I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces around CLE. Even if we bug you guys about joining ALPA, keep in mind we're just trying to help. Heck, I'm a little jealous - you get to fly the coolest plane out there...no kidding! There are bad apples in every bunch, so if anyone gives you a condescending look, just tell them hello and have a nice day. I doubt there'll be too much of that going on though.

Max and Trash,

Thanks for the kind words! This will be a little awkward for us during the start-up phase of our service so your encouragement and hospitality is greatly appreciated. I will be one of the captains going to CLE so I hope to interact with your guys personally. And remember, we take unlimited jumpseaters (FAs too!) so tell your fellow crewmembers who commute from these cities to come and see us and let us get them to work!

See you there!

Is there a place to see the new route map out of CLE for Commutair? I tried checking the website, but nothing is posted.

You guys can even ride in the cockpit now on CAL and CALEX flights. Aren't we like one big happy family?!

Ha Ha! Maybe! Hey, have you guys gotten the official word on us being allowed to sit up front? Several of our pilots have been denied in the past few weeks because they were told that we still were not authorized. Has this been included in your latest manual revision? Of course, in many of these instances the pilot couldn't even get past the gate agent to talk to the crew, so it's not the crew's fault. I'm sure it will get easier once the word gets out.

Pipers,

If you don't know anyone at these two airlines, it may be hard to get your hands on the route map. However, here are the city codes: CLE, AZO, LAN, FNT, SBN, MBS, FWA, TOL, ERI, ELM, PIT, AVP, and CRW.

Yes we have. If any pilot tells you that Commutair isn't allowed to ride in the cockpit tell them to reference FIL 03-024 dated 2/24/03. It's in black and white with nothing left to interpret. FILs are flight operations bulletins that are required to be read before beginning an assignment, so everyone should have the word by now.

Here's another xjet pilot welcoming you guys aboard. A little advice on the food in CLE, pack your f*cking lunch! You'll learn soon enough.

BTW, there is no bad blood between our pilot groups, so please don't come to CLE with the belief that there is...

Thanks for the tip, Nimtz. Now that you mention it, I have heard some nasty rumors about the Burger King on C Concourse. I've eaten at Home Turf a few times and it wasn't too bad. I guess it would get old after awhile though. Once again, thanks for the warm welcome.

I'd get a gas mask for the smell in the undergorund tunel as well. Kind of smells like union and umm well dirty crotch. They did a air study a few years ago and found it to be "heathly" but we all tend to hold our breaths.

Anyway, wlecome aboard. Oh is the cargo pressurized for um.... jumpseaters?

I heard that the airport is built over a landfill, hence the smell. Also, I'm not sure what a "union" smells like, but hopefully we'll find out soon! He he.

Sure is. I've even saved a seat for you in AFT 2. Don't worry, that net will protect you from flying bags!

I'm just happy to see airplanes comming to fill up the hardstands on the backside of "D" in CLE so we don't have to use them ;)

Just kidding, Welcome to our base and I look forward to seeing our brothers and sisters back into flying jobs that will eventually get them back to XJT.

Coming in late on this thread, I also welcome you to the 'family'.

CommutAir guys are now allowed on CAL jumpseats for domestic flights only. The policy states you can only be there if no seats available in the cabin.

Welcome.

Welcome, although tomorrow is my last day with Express. By the way, tomorrow I have a 3 hour sit in Albany. What is there to do there for 3 hours. Maybe someone will show me to your crew room in ALB. Anything to eat? We'll be there from 1015-1315. Hope to visit with some Commutair guys tomorrow in Albany and good luck to all in the new CLE joint operation. I hope to see many of you on the 717 jumpseat to ATL anytime you need a ride down South.

IAHERJ,

With a 1015 to 1315 sit, you'll meet about half of our pilots all at once! During this time frame, everyone is either ending a trip or beginning one so it will be pretty busy. Come on down and say hi! Just go down the escalator towards the A1 gate and knock on the door to your right. We have some comfy couches in the back with a TV so make yourselves at home. I'll be starting a trip tomorrow so I'll come back and say hi if you're there.

Cool SuperD. We'll probably see you tomorrow. We have a 5 leg day starting out early in IND. The break will be nice.
