They tried to fly it yesterday, December 3, but were not successful. Scott Crossfeild thought that the engine was not developing enough power. Then, when they had the engine working the winds were too gusty. I believe that they do need winds of about 20-25 kts out of the north-northeast to be able to fly.
The damage that was done to the replica was minor, and was repaired in a day or two. Very similar to what happen to the Wrights in early December of 1903.
They are trying to fly the replica as much as possible, but I would think that they would stop at some point before the 17th, so that any damage that had happened could be repaired before then.
I plan on being there from the 15-17.
