If the Yankees have not already "bought" enough, now they have taken it even one step further with getting A-Rod. I am not a Yankee fan but after reading about the following stipulations pertaining to the deal I had to laugh..

Hotel suites on all road trips...

Rangers must pay mortgage on his Texas house until he is able to sell it.

They (Rangers) must also take responsibility for the luxury seats he has at the Ballpark and at America Airlines arena...

All for a guy that had made an average of $46.7 million annually for three last-place finishes in the AL West. Texas still is going to have to pay $67 million of the $179 million remaining on his $252 million dollar 10 year contract...

If I were a Ranger or Sox fan I do not think I would be rooting too much for the Yanks this year.

I got a kick out of Selig's comments..

"I am very concerned about the large amount of cash consideration involved in the transaction, and the length of time over which the cash is being paid," Selig said.

"I want to make it abundantly clear to all clubs that I will not allow cash transfers of this magnitude to become the norm. However, given the unique circumstances, including the size, length and complexity of Mr. Rodriguez's contract and the quality of the talent moving in both directions, I have decided to approve the transaction."

Should be a very interesting year to see how well this is going to work out.

wow I should have been a baseball player.:D

Yes, the payout is ridiculous, but the Yankees chased this deal.

Don't be so quick to judge A-Rod. He was the highest paid player, but he also didn't choke or crumble under the pressure. His team may not have won, but he put up impressive numbers regularly for a guy with a bullseye painted on him.

I wonder if A-rod's agent would like to help negotiate our next pilot contract?

Hotel suites on overnights...paying my mortgage...etc?

It won't do any good. There are very few guys who can hit a 99mph fastball and field as well as A Rod. As we well know, any kid with $80K of daddys money can be a pilot.

Oh well,

I think there are many others that do it just as "well" year after year... A-Rod is a very good player but he surely is not the only one that does it "well".

Looks like the $8 beers at Yankee stadium are gonna be $22 beers next spring.

Go Red Sox

Go Red Sox

The Sox starting pitching rotation this year should be a rather good one. I think advantage Sox, yanks better have lotsa run support since many questions still remain about the rotation.

If they make it through training. Money does not equal competence. When I transitioned to the CRJ, my training partner was a 250-hour wonder from an aviation school in Florida. After four sims, he was still trying to get the steep turns down to +/- 150 feet. He never made it to the check ride.

Contrary to what you hear on this board, not everybody who P'sFT gets the job.

Make it $90K and use $10K to "grease the wheels".
