There is an interesting discussion going on in another part of the intraweb world, and the question was posed:

Who will apply to fly the airbus at F9, knowing that you are going to be working for RAH, and on a master seniority list below the current F9, YX, RW, S5, RP and Lynx pilots?

So you will be on the bus, but you will be #3001, and there are only 55ish Airbii.

That's a very interesting question. Who's doing the hiring? F9 or Repubic? I can't believe that have been able to go this long without hiring when they have a net gain of aircraft.

I can't imagine why ANYONE would want to work here as a new hire.

The most desirable aircraft will be fenced for a handful of years, so new hires could possibly be hired into the airbus, but they will remain at the bottom of the FO list for all eternity.

Once the fence is lifted, it will be a free-for-all and all of the airbus vacancies will go to whomever receives the smallest bite of the arbitrator's sh1t sandwich (aka "windfall")

So new hires will be doomed to FO reserve forever, best case scenario.

Worst case scenario is the airbi are eventually replaced by another aircraft type (cseries, long shot but possible). new hires into the bus will find themselves displaced into an RJ (RJ fleet is shrinking by the quarter) or on the street.

You have absolutely no clue what will happen. Did you just decide to make that up? Whatever it's worth, everything you said MUST be negotiated first. The MSL could just end up a nice piece of paper, what we DO know is that the implementation (if we are a STS) must be negotiated and agreed to by the company. Don't get too far ahead of yourself.

To answer what I do know: F9 will hire, but who is yet determined. Could and should be offered to EVERY YX and Lynx pilot first then off the street applicants.

pretty funny, for you to say stay seated has no clue what will happen and then say you KNOW F9 will hire, you know nothing of the sort. F9 has cx'd the last 5 CA vacancies for lack of fo's willing to go to MKE, and we havent hired anyone. So please dont try to pass this hiring bs off as fact.

I think what you will very likely see is an LOA to the currrent contract, or more probable, a section in the new contract that addresses Airbus vacancies.

It is a catch 22 in the current contract that says CA's can't voluntarily downgrade and FO's can't switch aircraft. However the IBT has made it clear to the company that hiring off the street for the Airbus is unacceptable in their eyes. That leaves no way IBT deems acceptable to fill Airbus FO streets.

Possibly the company hires off the street for the bus anyways and the scenario that StaySeated described happens. More likely in my opinion you will see language that specifically details how to bid for Airbus FO. At that point it will just be a matter of who is interested. Guys needing PIC time obviously won't have much interest in it. Personally I don't need the time and I would rather sit in the right seat of a bus in DEN than commute to the left seat of anything. But that's me.

hopefull we are not declared a single carrier and BB sells us off before there is any seniority integration otherwise RAH Fo's will be flying the airbus for 30 grand a year.

When they get rid of a specific RJ, maybe they could just furlough all the pilots flying that type aircraft and offer them a spot in the next new hire class. Just like they did with the 717. Just a thought.

+1 Ditto.

I love when you guys act like the IBT is the only contract that exists. I can tell you that we will hire and that the IBT will most likely not be included in the offer. More to come but in the meantime, don't sell yourself short by starting over on the "bus," you guys are equals right? It would just be lateral move and you deserve those top 300 spots.

Um first of all, if you re-read my post you will notice I never identify who I am or what I fly, so I really don't appreciate the "you guys" reference.

Second, I don't claim to know the outcome of the NMB's decision on Single Carrier Status, but I'm of the opinion it will likely be granted.

Third, if SCS is granted and you have gone this far down the road of the SLI, I'm not sure why you think IBT won't have a say in this matter.

I'm forced to conclude either A. You don't actually work for F9, B. You are really clueless, C. You are the polar opposte of option B and you have access to some kind of serious insider information that I don't.

It would be a management wet dream! Every time you change equipment, you start at year one!

especially since we lowered the bar substantialy with our first year pay. That is what happens when you have older captains negotiating a cantract. They know they will never start over because they are to close to retirement.

If that's a reference to Frontier/FAPA, 1) 1st year pay was out of line with the rest of the industry, and 2) The pay reduction was ratified by the membership.

If it's not about Frontier/FAPA, never mind.....
