I thought SWA was looking at Sun Country a while ago, they have 7- 737/700 and 10 - 800's and they use most of the same airports in the US as SWA (except Anchorage, Lansing, DFW, JFK and Palm Springs) and they have all the Caribbean and Mexico locations as well.
 
I think that would have made sense pre-AirTran, since SunCountry has some international and ETOPS experience. Now? I'm not so sure
 
I think they could find a similar number of 700's and 800's on the used market with a lot less expense than trying to purchase an entire airline and deal with the associated integration challenges.
 
17 airplanes and 200 pilots. I don't see a competitive edge either. Plenty of gates at the Humphrey Terminal if SWA ever decided to go crazy in Minni.
 
There ya go old man, it kinda rolls off the tounge a little easier than RELATIVE, RELATIVE, RELATIVE!!!! Don't ya think?
