I believe the original question was for IFR and INTERNATIONAL. I think I might be a contender! MMMA to BRO. Matamoras to Brownsville logged as 0.1 hour on the airframe, but I doubt the hobbs even moved!

ACK (Nantucket) to Hyannis is hardly worth bringing the gear up in a 1900. Its blocked at 20 minutes, but usually goes alot faster.

This has happened on certain aircraft types;

Wheels still spinning, power levers to idle, auto speed brakes deploy in the flare! Ground contact confirmed...

Ack??? you mean akron?(sp?)

we also used to do ACK-MVY in the ATR. That was about 8-10 minutes vfr at 1000 ft. AHHHHHH the good old days.

Any idea how long it takes for the IAH EFD in the RJ?

It takes the same time as it did in the 120, being that you can't go over 250 kts, about 6 minutes! Glad to be back in EFD.

come on, now, EFD is a nice place! Where else can you see all those different kinds of planes?!

I see where you CoEx is flying jets to EFD and CLL now... those are good looking planes. Look almost like a real jet airliner!! ;) Yea, I'm jealous... would love to fly one.

The Guiness Book of World Records has a flight in northern Scotland listed as the shorted scheduled airline service in the world. The flight has been completed in as little as 34 seconds between two islands. If anyone has the book, please post the airline and route as I can't afford it.

In the midst of all of this "used to" and "back when" and all that, how about "what's the shortest airline route NOW?"

Commutair does Plattsburgh, NY to Burlington, VT. That's 20.5nm.

Colgan does Altoona, PA to Johnstown, PA. That's 23.5nm.

I've done both of these routes, and they're about 6 or 7 minutes if the runways in use are aligned for the most expediency. :)

Can anyone think of a CURRENT airline route that's shorter?

Ah, yes, flyin' across Lake Champlain at 2000ft on an IFR flight plan. Gotta love it.

I flew right seat on a starship from OJC to MKC. Took about 5 minutes. We had to slow for a citation and circle for some towers. We didn't even put the gear up.

But at least I can say I've been in a starship. :D

up for shortest in a big jet

I jumpseated on a Sun Country Airlines 737 from Denver DIA to

Ft. Collins. Flight time was 12 minutes wheels up to wheels

down. The flight was a positioning flight to pick up the Colorado

State football team and take them to their bowl game in Memphis.

Yes the Naknek school bus run....Sorry guys that one beats all. Take off to the south on an 1800 foot strip fly 1/4 mile across the river and land again going south at S. Naknek. The kids go to school on an airplane, the school is on the south part of town which is seperated by the King Salmon River-fun and games.

I have a record time from wheels up to wheels down of 5 mins from IAH to HOU. We departed RWY 15L in IAH and landed RWY 12R in HOU. Man that was a quick flight. Still had time for a quick PA though. :D

loganair in the northern scottish islands is supposed to have the shortest airline flight; 5 minutes or less from one island to another. they use an islander
