The only people that are leaving are the Jr. young MD-11 guys that are getting hired by FEDEX or UPS.

And SWA and CAL and DL and Cathay.

I really hope the companies stay separate. It would be such a mess to merge the pilot groups. I also heard that it is an advantage to stay separate because of the "distribution" of AMC contracts.

Yes, I have heard the same. So far there is no talk of merging companies, just certain functions and one of our tech stops.

MD 11 Lines: LAX- Chicago, overnight, Chicago Frankfurt, 2 days off, Frankfurt - JFK, QT to ORD, spend night, then repeat as just mentioned.

They also have lines from Frankfurt to Kuwait and turn around.

DC 10 Lines: Baltimore - Liepzig, Ramstien - Dover, etc.

What is the outlook for hiring PFE's?
Actually I think they'll definitely be hiring PFEs. We lost some S/Os back to the left seat and they will need them for the certain extension of our two DC-10 freighters. We don't have enough F/Es to crew what we'll be flying when (and if) the DC-10 PAX birds show up.
Frankfurt to Kuwait
Frankfurt-Kuwait was 4 years ago. Its now Leipzig-Kuwait.
...nice hotels everywhere
Not exactly, some of the hotels in the states are down right horrible. But what can you do when the military bases are in the middle of nowheresville.
...will slice my wrists with the checklist if I have to fly to nowheresville again.
Ha Ha, that was funny!! No kidding
What are you guys hearing about the 6 A330-200F's that Matlin Patterson just ordered this past week?
Those aren't for us, they're for Varig. Now we could get their MD-11s in exchange, but that's way up there in the wishful thinking department.
More 744s on the way in addition to the two coming, so things will keep moving....(hopefully)
As far as intergration, the writing on the wall is saying that we're starting to stiff arm that. The ATA ship is taking on serious water. If they sell off their scheduled service, they'll be a fraction of what they were. Too bad.

I really doubt there will be too much more PFE hiring. Current class has 3 SO's and the next class has more SO's, and because of maybe 5 more years of life left in the 10, I believe there will be more SO hiring than PFE's. But that's just a guess, who knows what will happen.

Been flying the past 10 days with a variety of new hire/ re-hire (used to work at World at some point) PFE's. Most have been getting training so I have been chatting it up with the training guys that ride along. More PFE's will definitely be hired. Also SO's. Hard to find good PFE's these days, but we've been getting a bunch from Focus,Evergreen,Gemini,Cargo360,etc. There are almost 20 FE spots unfilled and will be filled by PFE's and SO's. PFE's are better than SO's in my opinion (I can say this because I was an SO :) ) because of their maintenance background and experience as FE's on various aircraft. If you're a PFE and want to see the world with World, send in your apps today. functioning liver required..
