Working as a Handler/Courier at FedEx

I thought I had read somewhere that when one is applying to fly for FedEx, having worked for them in another capacity (handler, courier, etc.) in the past is looked upon very favorably. Is there any truth to that? And what if the time spent with them was only for less than 6 months? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Im pretty sure it has to be at least one year, and it can't be titled a temporary job.
