What happens at your company when an FO is scheduled to fly a trip with a Check Airman and the company needs that trip for training?

At ExpressJet if a trip is removed from our schedule for this reason, the company has up till noon the day prior to the first day of the trip to reassign us. If they don't put anything on our schedule we're off for those days and can pick up anything from open time for additional pay (and of course get paid for the original trip as well). I know of one FO who has taken advantage of this and credited 215 hours of pay in June (on 3rd year pay), and still had 13 days off.

So is this unique to ExpressJet, or is this how it works at other regionals/majors/lcc's that you know of?

Same deal at SKW, but they they have to notify you 72 hours prior to show time. Any re-assigned flying must fit into the original footprint.

You get paid the greater of the original trip or what you fly, if anything.

You get your day taken from you and then you sit for 12 hours reserve without the original pay credit. Instead they pay you 2 hrs pay credit. COLGAN SUCKS "creative writing not allowed"....

At ASA when you have a trip taken for training you are on reserve for the footprint of your trip with a 12 hour call out. Still get paid block.

So if they don't reassign you, you can pick up open time and get paid for your original trip (say its a 20 hour 4 day) as well as the trip you pick up (maybe a 12 hour 2 day for a total of 32 hours of pay)? Or do they only pay you the greater of your original trip or the trip you pick up?

it'd be 32 hours of pay. this is how I racked up tons of extra credit and pay as an FO. my record was 160 hours of credit in one month, only blocked about half of that. getting displaced was fantastic.

We don't have that issue here. IOE captain lines are just blocked from FOs bidding them and get reserves assigned to them when ever they aren't doing IOE.
