Okay, I know....no portable electronic devices used during IFR flight.... But, lets say (theoretically) if I were to kick on the old laptop could I hone in on a wireless signal? What are the service volumes on something like that. I figuring I would get zilch but was curious. Any input fellas/ladies?

The biggest problem I've had is that by the time it has finished negotiating the signal, it loses the connection due to the speed you're traveling (8 miles per minute or so).

That is, if I ever tried it.

WiFi

Scandinavian Airlines has high speed internet installed in all their longrange airbuses, pretty good way to waste time on a 9 hr transatlantic flight.

i was on a SAS flight from ewr to arn. I used the wireless internet the whole time. I streamed music and surfed the net till my hands bled. Speed was fast and i even was able to post on FI.

Punchin out.

WiFi

The new Legacy's have WiFi and high speed data capability!

Amazing eh !
