Wind Check v. Instant Wind

I was reading an article today that referenced the term "instant wind". All I ever ask for is a wind check from tower if I am concerned about the winds. This article said a pilot should request "Instant Wind"

Can any of you guys confirm this because in 17 years I have never heard this term.

Well, I usually get the "instant wind" from the LLWAS or low level wind shear alert system however, alot of facilities use there status information board to read the wind which display's a two minute average of what the wind has been. Some facitlities will not have the LLWAS system so you either get to hear them read the digitail two minute average or have them read what is on the old school anolog gauge but those aren't very accurate. The two minute average is good enough.
