Why? No yield, no network, their costs would only go up to the level of LCC and they are struggling with a yield / market share situaition as it is.

Jet Blue is a great company but they are finding out that low labor costs are not the only way to profitability. If you are primarily in low yield markets then someone will always come along lower with lower costs and create problems for you, ie. Virgin.

That's why the ERJ190 is online to go to higher yield markets.

I think it is likely to be the other way around!:erm:

You, sir, are on crack.

If anyone comes after us, it will be for the sole purpose of removing us from the marketplace. With that in mind, it could be Delta, USAir, UAL, AA.... about the only people that wouldn't be interested in seeing us disappear are UPS and FedEx.

A couple more that don't want us to disappear: my wife, kids, the dog, Wells Fargo, Capital One, my momma...

The question should be...is Delta going to acquire JetBlue? Delta will be flush with cash when they exit bankruptcy and would love to finally get rid of that snotnose nemisis and take over their nice new terminal in JFK.

Well, we need E190s or 100 seaters, we need a new terminal at JFK, and better feed. You never know.....I don't think Neeleman would like that though.

Bye Bye--General Lee

General,

With a pending union organizing effort underway among the jetblue pilots (and possibly the flight attendants) DN may be happy to give it up once he realizes that his dream airline is about to go the way of the DoDo bird. It would be his way of saying thanks to his hard working crewmembers just before they get stapled to the bottom of Delta's respective seniority lists, if they're lucky.

If we are flush with cash post BK, I think they should spend that on restoring some of our pension! Or, at least pay down debt, or stash it away for a rainy day!

This is 100% correct. If workgroups at JBLU unionize and DAL offers David a sweet deal, he will probably punch out, take his millions and go build a company that makes jetfuel out of coal. It's a tough call because I think workgroups need some protection if mergers happen, but I think unions at this time would hasten the day a JetBlue acquisition happens. If DAL were to offer a significant premium over market value, lots of execs at JetBlue would make some serious cash.

"You sir" can't take a joke

If the stock price per share offered is nice.......bye bye. How many shares does he control? It is not about loyalty these days. Money talks.

Funny how failure such as bankruptcies at USAir, Delta, NWA, UAUA are seen as good things. We fail at our business plan, now we are exiting our bankruptcies and will take over other airlines. Maybe we can buy our competition and then not have to compete. Very little to none of the money LCC (or DAL for that matter) offers to take over airlines comes from operations. Most of the money comes from lending institutions and stock...UMMM, that's just more debt which is what legacies are good at.

So, if you think your company (LCC or DAL) is so wealthy to accomplish hostile take overs, think again. You guys are just getting out of bankruptcy (DAL not even out of bankruptcy) and are gonna take over the entire world! It's kinda funny. Heck, I'm gonna run all my credit cards over the limit, declare bankruptcy and go buy me General Motors!

First of all, this is all speculation. But, if DL were to come out of BK with new stock and a bunch of cash, they may be looking to buy something. The difference with buying JB and US buying DL is that the B6 aquisition would benefit everyone, with JB providing better feed at JFK for DL's INTL endevors. US buying DL would have come with hub closures, 200 planes being parked (estimated), and thousands of people losing their jobs. I wouldn't see that with a JB aquistion, if it were to happen. Right now most of our feed at JFK is in the form of RJs, and the old Song routes with 757s have been reduced by MD88s. Those MD88s could be used elsewhere, (covering RJ routes to major cities), and the E190 orders would give us a 100 seater we really needed yesterday. The new terminal in JFK could replace our current one that needs to be torn down. The LGB stuff could be kept, giving an alternative to those people living in LA. It could possibly work, and DOH would work too with the seniority. I would then be number 1 A320 Captain at JFK. Where is my FO Diesel 8? Just joking there. Who knows what will happen, but regardless, I am so happy the USAir thing did NOT. We may merge with NW, we may buy someone, we may get gobbled up again. You never know....

It's the American Way! Live with it! If you don't like the laws of BK, stir up $hit, call your senators, make a stand! I will tell you this, it is the good ol boy network of rich taking more more! It will never change with lawmakers and presidents like George W!

General-

From what I understand, the new terminal in JFK can not accomodate widebody aircraft. Wouldn't that be a "small" problem?

I think two or more gates do accomadate WB a/c per the NYPA.

Maybe that could be fixed with a construction crew? The Port Authority would grant anything for the right amount of $$.

If DL and B6 merge, I am sure the General would change his criticism of transcon turns. After all, the Delta pilots are breaking the rules errrr, got an expemption for the 16 hour duty day, and planes aren't falling out of the sky due to tired pilots.

DL sounds a lot like Microsoft of the 80's. We can't compete with competiton straight up, so we will copy (Song), buy, or kill anything in our way. Apple software is far superior, but has only 5% of the market.

Must be nice being able to 'erase' billions of dollars or debt. I can't wait to hear the Deltas response to the pilot pension funding v cost to merge question that got Parker into so much trouble.

Gotta diagree on this one. Flying an extra 15 minutes with an agmented crew is not the same as some redeye transcon turn.

I hope not for the sake of jetBlue. You guys have a great airline and the way management approaches you guys is the polar opposite of how US approaches us. You guys want no part of this garbage airline, but I'm sure you already knew that.

I think the seed has been sown with LCC and the idea of re-funding discarded pensions. Before any airline that was previously in BK even is allowed to entertain the idea of the purchase of another for what ever reason, they will have to pay back what they have taken first.
