It's coming down to the wire, but everything that needed to happen to prevent furloughs at Airtran is happening. MKE is openning up, and oil is down.

I also heard we may continue to fly to the westcoast with a stop in Denver.

I hope down the road we remember our Midwest brethren, and lobby for them for interviews.

Once congress comes close to regulating oil expect oil to drop even before the bill is pasted. Of course who knows what the oil cartel will do.

The oil cartel in the whitehouse may veto it just like they prevented extentions on unemployment benefits.

I think we are putting the cart before the horse. I don't think the company would have played hard ball for the training department if they did not intend on furlough.

Why dont they open MCO and BWI as bases and stop paying for all the hotel cost?? It would be millions saved in a years time.

Before we start lobbying for midex pilots to get interviews; we should concentrate on the pilots gettin FIRED while mgmnt uses our contract as toilet paper. But yeah...after that is takin care of, the more midex guys the better.

Today your NPA leadership unanimously voted to ratify a Letter of Agreement ensuring the recall rights and benefits of your fellow probationary pilots. In response to the position by Management that the probationary pilots would be terminated in lieu of furlough, the Association reviewed its legal options and decided that the right thing for both parties was to sit down and negotiate. To that end, the Negotiating Committee was tasked with the objective of trying to achieve a consensual agreement. We will never leave our probationary pilots behind and were fully prepared to respond should it have been necessary. We hope that this issue is resolved once and for all.
While we are glad to move this matter off the front burner and to bring some closure, there is still much work to be done to improve the quality of life for our pilots. Your BOD is committed to addressing those concerns and will be focusing our efforts in that regard. Although the parties are in Section 6 negotiations, nothing prevents us from reaching agreement with the Company on quality of life improvements outside of Section 6 - just as we have done with this issue. As always, we will keep you informed of any new developments. The LOA will be published on the NPA website at www.npa-atl.org accompanied by a summary of the agreement, including an explanation of long-term leaves of absence, the new voluntary displacement provisions, furlough and leave benefits, and the addition of a zero-time line option for the bid period.

What was the negotiation,
Company, uh, were going to fire your junior pilots to keep our buds in the training dept,
Unioin, that's not what we meant when the contract was signed.
Company, ok then what will it be?
Union, ok, forget that contract provision, just don't fire those pilots!

Remember, countries around the world already know, you can't negotiate with terrorists!

I take it from your smart as$ comment that you are somehow privy to some inside information. It wouldn't surprise me if we don't get anything from our LOA, but my post only concerns the probie pilots that aren't "fired" anymore (if that's any consolation)

So feel free to keep your yapper shut until we find out. No offense.

MKE has nothing to do with furloughs. Are there any deliveries coming soon that haven't been sold?

From the memo it looks like there were numerous items discussed and negotiated besides the furloughs and the instructors.

Here's an ideal- albeit "tongue in cheek". Why don't we threaten to violate a portion of the CBA that will affect the company to the same drastic extent that firing 177 pilots would affect those pilots? (use your imagination as to what the pilots could collectively do)
Then when the company says we can't do that and they are going to take us to court, we say "go ahead, it will take you years in court to win your case and by that time the industry will have turned around". Next they'll ask us to come to an agreement and we say "okay, we won't violate the contract if you give us relief in that section that will allow us to legally do what we were going to do illegally in the first place."

Sound familiar!

Sorry, it was not the union that posted it, it was somebody that found it and put it on the NPA forum. The union has not officially released it yet.
