Just happened to be the FO on this leg today, simply put the MD90 was the wrong airframe for the leg today...it can't make dtw-slc and carry a full load and enough gas to complete the leg with an alternate and contingency fuel. Until this leg has the right equipment on it, look to see more of this, it has happened before and will again. The good news was Delta elected to take all the bags and all the toads including non-revs instead of ditching revenue.
It was also one hell of a turn in mci; we landed, fueled and turned in 23 minutes touchdown to takeoff, I was shocked at the performance of the ramp crew in mci. If we would have tried to do this in dtw we would still be waiting for a push crew
