By Chris Kahn, AP Business Writer US Airways Gave CEO $5.9 Million in Compensation Last Year
PHOENIX (AP) -- US Airways Chairman and Chief Executive Doug Parker received $5.9 million in compensation last year, according to an analysis of a federal regulatory filing made Monday.
Parker is credited with turning two struggling airlines -- America West Airlines and the formerly bankrupt US Airways -- into moneymakers.

It posted a $303 million profit in 2006, and company officials say they've benefited from almost $1 billion in additional revenue, cost savings and other synergies related to America West's combination with US Airways.
Last month, US Airways said it mailed almost $59 million in profit sharing to employees. However, the airline refused to boost staff salaries and has yet to settle labor contracts with its pilots, flight attendants, machinists and fleet service workers.
"Once again, we're seeing corporate America make out like bandits and the front line employees are getting the shaft," John McIlvenna, a pilots union chairman, said after learning how much Parker earned.
Parker, 45, was paid a $550,000 salary in 2006, an amount that the company said has not increased since he took the helm of America West Airlines in September 2001.
He got $1.7 million in performance incentive payments. Parker also received other compensation of $47,947, including personal travel benefits and $11,072 in tax liability payments related to personal travel benefits, personal cell phone use, financial services and golf course club dues.
US Airways also gave Parker stock and options awards that had an estimated value of $3.5 million when they were granted on April 19, 2006.
The Associated Press calculates total pay including executives' salary, bonus, incentives, perks, above-market returns on deferred compensation and the estimated value of stock and options awards granted during the year.
The calculations don't include changes in the present value of pension benefits or the company's cost of stock and options granted before 2006. The figures can differ from the company's total.
The proxy statement said the carrier's annual meeting will be at the Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel Philadelphia on May 15.
Shareholders are scheduled to vote on whether to re-elect Denise M. O'Leary, George M. Philip and J. Steven Whisler to three-year terms. They also will be asked to ratify the board's choice of an independent accounting firm for 2007, and to decide whether to publicize any political contributions made by the company. US Airways released its executive compensation figures after the stock market closed. Its shares were up 11 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $45.34 Monday on the New York Stock Exchange.

How much of that goes to his lawyers? He should probably spend some of that on cab fare.....

Bye Bye--General Lee

His top two lieutenants — both of whom already make a bigger salary than Grinstein — are each in line to receive $8.4 million in equity awards over the next few years if goals are met, plus another $765,000 in possible cash incentives, according to Delta.

It's coming guys! lol.

You guys are sad. It's like you're bent over with you're pants down taking it and you're looking around laughing at others. Truly pathetic. No wonder the industry is so screwed up.

sure they can be a##holes but you also have to consider the fact that guys who spent less than a year on property at DAL are recieving over 100k. Meanwhile LCC pilots are paid crap and we´re asking for crap. I bet that within two years of singing our new contract we´ll be once again making industry bottom wages. But maybe we´ll get em on the next contract...

The bottom guy at DL that was furloughed, who never spent one day actually flying a Delta plane until he came back just recently, gets over $150,000 in the claim sale. ($88,000 of that will be put into 401K allottments(06/07), and the rest will be taxed and given in his May 15th check) Not bad........

Wow, I have 8 years and get less than him. 144k coming my way. Doubt the furloughed guy is getting over 150k.

GL loves to exaggerate, haven't you heard? Just two weeks ago he told us all how the most junior guy would be getting $200k. Are you sure you ain't management, GL?

800,

How the heck is that possible? My allotment is almost 208,000 and if I would be on property by the end of the month I would get all of that, minus uncle sams share after the 401K contribution..... as it stands now im getting 50,586 for the seniority silo..... sooooo you're getting screwed someway somehow. I'd bet you've got your numbers mixed up or something just aint right...... know what I mean. Good luck over there.

Look at industry wages...

I have....UAL believe it or not makes less money than AWA old contract and their furloughees do not get longevity when they return... They Alpa sold them out in the contract... Nothing new...

At least US Air furloughees get longevity when they return, thanks to the interim agreements signed...

So lets start asking all CEO's why most airlines pilots are paid crap...when they are collecting millions. Look how much Tilton at UAL collected and at 777 captain on 12 year pay working only guarantee, will only make about $160,000....pathetic.

You are wrong. His claim was over $200,000, even without flying one day. Add that to the pension claim note, and he will get around $150,000. True story.

That was the amount of his claim sale. At that point we all didn't know what the percentage would be (now we know we will get 60 cents on the dollar). Add to that his share in the $650 million note, and he could have gotten close to $200,000. None of us knew the numbers when I posted it 2 weeks ago. Still, he gets a good chunk for not doing anything at DL until now.

I make more on the side in part time investments than my pathetic full time salary. Thankfully I don't fly much. I can tell you now my vote is no just based on our starting position.

well hopefully the majority shares your opinion. Unfortunately i think our mec/lec/jnc folks are a little on the soft side.

WHY?
Because thats the value that you set for yourself!
Are the Bean counters going to take flying lessons and replace you overnight?
I Don't think so, think about it!
OPEC is stronger than we are yet we have more leverage!
WHY?
They use it!
We Don't!
ALPO has a great history but they are useless.
Stand bye for a new national union!
