Its because they are haulin butt! I think its purely a function of groundspeed in the ERJ. Get it over something like 30 knots and the spoilers autodeploy with idle thrust. I don't fly the thing, just my understanding.

If you taxi faster than 20kts in the rj with the spoilers come up.. I can remember what prevents them from coming up on take off.. .thrust lever angle come to mind.

(NO I'm not on the airplane any more.)

But he is really taxiing like a bat out of hades.

No testing it, dude is just going faster than 25 knots. 57 degrees on the thrust lever or something like that on T/O.

Yup...what they said..

Spoilers come up on ground when wheels are going >25kts. So when you land they pop up automatically.

However, they stow automatically when the thrust levers are past a certain angle.

25 kts, weight on wheels pops em

I wonder how that was recorded with all electronic equipment in the off position?

you notice his power applications at the start of his taxi??...i bet there were some pissed off rampers behind him lol

Because there is a 300 hour wonder in the right seat..........

They're up because the captain is taxiing at an excessive taxi speed. A safer, more proper speed should not cause the spoilers to automatically extend.

Unless he's exiting a high speed after landing, it's the mark of a low rent Embraer pilot.

Just yesterday watched a similar character (not COEX) cut off a Delta plane and nearly nail a ground vehicle because he couldn't make the turn due to excessive speed.

He impressed no one.

They were trying to raise the bar but instead reached for the spoiler handle.
