They are also widening the runway. Mix in the unpredictable weather this time of year, it is easy to only get 50% productivity when it is near or below freezing, especially with the harsh north winds of the past couple days.

Pouring concrete in freezing temperatures also adds a new set of procedures...so it probably won't begin to mid April.

They have to bust up the entire thing to gain access to the fetzer valves placed at 500' intervals.

They will pulvarize the runway in place, but the fetzer valves will remain buried in place, to be replaced by (fiber optic) refulgent splitters.
