soooo...how exactly do you know so much about life at the "pathetic" regionals???

You said it yourself...the truth hurts. How do you know this truth???

Do you work here? Are you a liar/poser/ wannabe?

The BS flag is flying high.

Tool.

Keep in mind that most of those "facts" you posted apply to you at JetBlue (also. You guys aren't immune to ANYTHING and the ball could drop on you guys in the future. You've got no credibility here skippy!

Denial.

Pure denial. Pure denial. What can I say?

The world passes you by as you waste your life away trying to find a "glamerous lifestyle" that will never come.

Pathetic.

Whoaaa there Hoss..... You have every right to your opinion. I'll not deny you that. And you can think I'm pathetic all you want. I won't deny that I hang my head lower than I used too, and the future's not nearly as bright as it looked once. But your presuming alot here. Some of us can't see ourselves doing anything else. Its not about the money, or any friggin glamorous lifestyle. I'm here because I belong here. Thats the answer you were looking for, right. Regional, Cargo, 135, Major....it doesn't matter to me. The best I can get at the time, with my time and experience. We're all pilots right?

I've worked a lot of places, and I've met some great people while flying....people I would give my last dime to if they needed it. I met those people at some of those S#$thole jobs your talking about. When I needed help those guys (and girls) were there to pull me out of my hole. I'll be D#$ned If I let you s#$t on them without saying something about it. Just please watch the line your crossing here blue. Your moving from "professional discussion" to "personal attacks" pretty quick.

You're in a pretty good position right now, and you should be thankful. Just remember Braniff, Eastern, Pan Am, TWA, AA, United, etc., etc. They were all doing about as good as could be 10 years before they weren't.

That said, relax, I'll be glad to buy you a beer and chat about it. At least I still have a few bucks left to buy beer....

Funny a bunch of people working in an industry that is supposedly so bad, yet biotching about it. Don't like it, get a different job. I mean, you could be a gabage man or that poor guy driving an outhouse cleaning truck.

Well if this doesn't work out, I plan on operating a Maglev train.

Look Jetbluedog or whoever you are. We all know there is a huge disparity between the "haves" and the "have nots" in aviation. If you're for real (which I doubt) then you have no class for disparaging people that are working hard to get where you are claiming to be.

Anyone who wants to compare pilots to doctors needs only to compare medical school with MAPD, CAPT, and the Comair "Academy". Please![I/] (Not to single these out as the only examples, but only as typical ones.)

There is ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISION between qualifying to be a doctor and a pilot. Other than that both tend to be cheapskates.

100LL, Are you a doctor or something? I believe that both are professionals (doctor and pilot). Question is why should one professional not deserve the same respect as another? You will only gain respect if you act as a professional and demand respect. Downgrading the pilot profession will only have negative effect on that entire concept of being a professional.

But than maybe you might be an amature, and in that case disregard my post.:D

I guess being a doctor for a living would be alright, that is if you wanted to WORK for a living. I dont see many people that go perform surgery or diagnose their neighbors symptoms on the weekends, I see many people recreationally flying. Conclusion? Flying is fun....

Here's a fact for you JBDog: My guaranteed fourth year pathetic pay flying a lowly CRJ is more than your guaranteed fourth year pay on the Bus. Plus, I don't have to dump the sh!tcan.

Geez. I just state some pure FACTS about regional airline life and I get called names and I'm told to "Shut-UP".

All I can say guys is, "THE TRUTH MUST REALLY HURT."

PS - I flew a Metroliner part 135 for you ignorant punks.

No way this dude really fly's for jetblue.....

The metro only has a takeoff weight of 16,000 lbs. or so....

http://www.ameriflight.com/Misc/Aircraft/metro.htm

I ski with the CEO of jetblue every year and he's told me they are unable to budge on the following minimums....(even with nepotism)...nice try.

• 1500 hours total time in airplanes (excluded: Helicopter, Simulator, Flight Engineer time)
• 1000 hours turbine in airplanes
• 1000 hours Pilot in Command Time*
• 1000 hours in airplanes at or above 20,000 pounds (maximum takeoff weight)
• Recency of flight experience will be considered
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification
• Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
• Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Radio License
• Valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
• Three reference letters from Pilots who can personally attest to the candidate’s flying skills (must bring originals to interview)
• Vision corrected to 20/20
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required , College Degree preferred
• Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
• Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

"When are you "glamerous-pilots" going to start putting your feet down and demand a respectable career?? Not in my life time as long as UND and Embry Riddle keep pumping out young punks with "Daddy's money" and willing to settle with what the regionals currently offer for compensation (peanuts)."

At my former employer, the sue happy public was getting too sick on recirculated peanut dust, so now we are getting paid in pretzels.

what other profession will you get 60-70 grand in your 5th or 6th year? Work with a min of 12 days off a month and get drunk at hotels every night on the road. Sounds like a really bad job to me. I know sitting on your butt all day pushing buttons and talking on the radio gets to be a bit much.

Dork! I know people making 110 grand a year in their 3rd year for counting pills.
I know people straight out of college making 60-70 grand a year. I already know I chose the wrong profession. Unfortunately, all my hope is not yet lost.

Ah yes, counting pills. Now that's how I want to spend my work days.

But alas. I am stuck making 80-90K working 14-15 days monthly and using nonrev benefits to travel to Europe for free on the off days. Simply horrible.

Aircraft Experience: Airbus
Flight Experience: civilian

This post is absoutely rediculous...How can someone who has never even been a regional whore start bashing the rest of us who are the only ones keeping this god d@^^n industry alive. If it weren't for the regionals right now, the only people in business would be the LCC. Now, we aren't all as privelaged to have someone hand us a great opportunity on a silver platter like yourself, so we instead have to do our time at the lower level. Who knows if all of us will ever make it to that glamour job that you proclaim to have at JetBlue, but the least you could do is support those of us that are trying. You don't have to tell us again that life at the regional level sucks and that we don't get paid very well, yadda, yadda, yadda...we know that much already. Do us all a big favor and instead of wiping your $h!t in our faces, get off your soap box, and put that butt plug back where it belongs.

It is not a matter of 'respect' it is a matter of pay. Pay me enough and I can live without this so-called respect.

Doctors are not well paid because they are well respected. They are well paid because their profession has multiple barriers to entry that require much more then the pilot profession does. Any a$$hole with 9 months and $25K can blast through the ratings and buy a job at mesa or gia, then fly for a year and move on to a 'better' regional.

Our low barriers to entry and willingness as a group of professionals to accept 'certificate mill' pilots is KILLING us.

I know a lot of doctors and I can tell you that becoming one is much tougher than becoming a pilot, especially in this buy-your-way-in industry.

I really don't care if you believe me, though. I can look around and see they profession being destroyed. And you know what? I really don't care anymore.

If, as pilots, we are too stupid to acknowledge reality, perhaps we deserve exactly what we are getting.

And getting it we are.
