Why Do You Need To Strike?

Why do you guys need to strike? You break enough planes everyday just to p*ss people off here at NJ that you don't need to strike. I for one am sick of it. Just fly your freaking plane and shut up.

Nobody wants to strike, but sometimes when you believe in something you have to stand up for yourself and do what you need to do.

Why do you think it p!sses people off when an aircraft has a mechical issue?
As far as breaking airplanes, in 4+ years, I haven't seen anyone get upset over legitimate AOG issues. (Pgirl, do you know the definition of AOG?)

Interesting. I thought most of our maintenance work is outsourced to different companies. So wouldnt those companies be the ones responsible for making sure the work was done correctly and held accountable if it wasnt?

As for the threats of using the power of the pen, didnt the AA pilots try that a couple years ago?

Maybe you really are a desk jockey in the casino. You certainly don't know much about the maintenance responsibility of a certificate holder.

LOL....if that's the best that you can do then management at NJ has nothing to worry about...

A lot of our maintenance is outsourced (what the exact breakdown is I don't know) but, we have our own internal maint. in LUK and CMH.

When planes break on the road, if we have approved maint. at that site they will contract the job. LUK has teams that fly out and do certain maint functions. I have had them come over to the islands before.

In my case, in dealing with maint in CMH at least, they have always erred on the conservative side. I will say though I have noticed more recurring write ups that were "could not duplicate" sign offs, only to have the same malfunction happen on our flight. Especially for MELs.

This could be attributed to a few things, but you can't discount a pencil whip somewhere along the line.

Perfect management material. That dude looks at paper with pie charts, graphs, and numbers, and has absolutely no idea how things work in the real world. Must be an ivy league MBA.

We do see some of those "could not duplicate" items. We understand that you guys get busy and tired, but sometimes we could use a little help in some of your write-ups. When you squawk "Aircraft has vibration in flight", that tells us nothing. Add in a few of the variables for us...Airspeed, altitude, where did it appear to come from (front / back), any engine vibes? Sometimes we get squawks that we don't understand. "autopilot inop" is not descriptive, and if we don't know the situation you were in when it failed, we might not be able to duplicate the problem you had.

Lack of knowledge doesnt seem to keep many of the alleged pilots from posting their unsolicted opinions here.....

Which brings up a good point....since when did a pilots license make someone the undisputed expert in dispatch, maintenance, catering, meteorology, finance, accounting, payroll, negotiations, staffing, aircraft inventory management, and operations management?

It amuses me that you think you know how to run this company better than the guy that founded the industry.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this time very SLOWLY.....if you're so bright and you control the scarce resource (labor) then why dont you go start your own fractional company????

Because doing all those things is normal for a line pilot before we hit the start button. Don't forget that.
