I am bored and was wondering and I don’t know if it's been on here before. I know why I wanted to be a pilot, I thought chicks would dig me and I would make lots of money. Guess the joke is on me.

I thought about becoming a malpractice attorney because I hate Doctors so much. I wonder if chicks dig those guys

short, fat, bald, ugly, sweaty, hairy....doesn't matter.

as long as you've got money and a porsche you're gonna bang her down. doesn't make sense to me.

Q. What do you call a dentist?
A. Someone that failed out of Med. School. Sienfield

Q. What do you call 1000 attorneys at the bottom of the ocean?
A. A good start

Q. What do you call someone who finished last in Med. School?
A. Doctor, Podiatrist or Chiropractor

Q. What happens with the student who fails out of a 141 school?
A. I’m doing it at the local airport. I was here with the hippy lettuce guys too.

Last but not least not meaning to flame but funny just the same.

Q What does BE-1900 stand for?
A. BE=Beech
19=how many passengers
00= is for the two zeros flying it. Ouch!

Once I saw how cool a Cessna 172 was, I knew what I had to do. To someday fly such an amazing performer and engage in steep turns and holding patterns is something dreams are made of.

Ok, I admit that was sarcastic. I began flying because it is really one of the few things I am passionate about. I've always loved airplanes, just kinda seemed natural to go for it. I'm still "just" a CFI, but I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of my career and cool experiences not yet dreamed of*. Idealistic I know but hey, I'm only 24 for a while.

*Griping about unions and pay scales doesn't count as "experiences dreamed of".

I have always wanted to fly since I was a kid. Never really thought of doing anything else. I now want to pursue other areas of aviation, but I never give any thought to doing anything but flying. I tried working a different job for a little while but was not happy at all. For me, being happy in my job translates to a better home life, etc. Luckily, I have also been able to make a decent living for my family. I have never been after the big bucks that some talk about. I just want to enjoy my job and make a decent living. My grandfather once told me to do something that you love and be the best that you can be at it. If you do that things will work out. There is always a place for someone who loves his work and is good at it. That may sound too simplistic, but it has always worked for me. Aviation is much too demanding and unforgiving if you don't have a true passion for it.

I was too lazy to go to med school to be a thoracic surgeon and did not have any contacts to get into acting so here I am..:D

It has been a fun ride though, no complaints at all

I just wanted to be a Crop Duster.

I just wanted to wear a big watch, and have my breath smell like peanuts and coffee. :D

Why did I become a pilot? Because I LOVE to fly. Period. It is the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever done and a great accomplishment for me.

Why did I become a professional piot? I don't know. I think I must have hit my head on the back of a C152 aileron/flap one too many times!

Seriously, what else would I do with my time? Some days it sucks, but it's still better than making false teeth ( my "real" job before jumping into aviation).

Because I Fly

Because I fly,
I laugh more than other men.
I look up and see more than they.
I know how the clouds feel,
What it’s like to have the blue in my lap,
To look down on birds,
To feel freedom in a thing called a stick…
Who but I can slice between
God’s billowed legs
And feel them laugh and crash with His step?
Who else has seen the unclimbed peaks?
The rainbow’s secret?
The real reason birds sing?
Because I fly
I envy no man on earth!

You anti-Dentite.

Because...

That's all I've almost ever wanted to do...

I grew up an USAF brat...my dad retired in 74, but we were always around a USAF base or airport (exception was 6 months in Buffalo, NY and 1 year in New Brunswick, GA). I think the only time I didn't consider aviation was during high school when I discovered girls and muscle cars.

I'm just like FlyChicago in that I'm one of those rare people that does exactly what they wanted to do when they were a kid. Not many adults can say that...

Adult: "So, what do you want to be when you grow up?"

Kid: "An insurance adjuster!"

Nope, definitely not me!

I think even if for some reason I couldn't stay a pilot, that I would stay in something aviation related. Thank God my wife grew up the daughter of an major airline mechanic...

Thanks guys I was wondering what makes us do what we do for sometimes very little pay. My next thread is going to ask if anyone has had a real job and went back to flying. Maybe that’s why we fly I’ve been fired from real jobs where I had a boss who I saw everyday and micro managed my every move. See Office Space, great movie. We all seem to do well in aviation. Maybe most of are throwbacks from society (myself included) and this is all we are programmed to do. Who knows thanks again guys
