The fundamental basis of the RLA is to keep commerce flowing while negotiations continue. This is the way it's always been; Republican, Democrat not withstanding.

To simply say "GWB is in office, so labor can't win," is pathetic. This is on par with blaming the Pres. for Katrina, or AIDS--silly and unproductive.

The pilot group at ASA has the power to effect change and bring management to their knees, but you don't have the unity to make this happen......so who's really at fault.

You think this is politics but you are so wrong. It’s because the Union is too far out of line. When this occurs the NMB parks the groups because you are not being realistic and thus they think you are not sincere. When the company is out of line, the NMB will threaten to release.

Ask your Delta daddy how his check has changed? Ask your Northwest daddy how his check has changed? on and on and on.......

This is not the same industry you dreamed to be part of. Wake UP!

Actully... there was a lot more than the politics of the president at play there. The APA flipped of all of the other unions at AA when they decided to call their strike. The unions themselves (through the AFL-CIO) were pressuring the president not to let the pilots strike, and Clinton being the good labor president he was gave them what they wanted.

WHy Bush is done a great job with labor, katrina, the WAR, economy, military cuts, open borders, job losses, imigration, spying on you,

when the military can not fly a helicopter to a horrible situation and land on hosiptals to get the sick and babies out of town is a sad sad day in America, when that base was in Lafayette LA. 20 mins flight away. Dont worry a local business helicopter tried.

Skywest is training our replacements right here in ATL--but the company has already entered into SELF HELP!!!

We need to sue ALPA and ASA on this matter= READ the RLA closely--Skywest INc has entered into self help, to help the company survive on possible strike.

Clinton made the AApilots go back to work blah blah blah. Why don't you do a google search and read what happened after that. CLinton didn't leave the pilots in limbo, but started a PEB to get the contract settled. Remember, he let and AA FAs walk for 5 days before he got involved in '93. During his presidency, a record number of contracts were settled with record wages and benefits. I'm pretty sure that none of those contracts settled in the '90s took over four years to negotiate.
