Ed Bastain(DL CFO) was saying that the pilot's salaries are a larger part of the payroll than the noncontracts, to which the Judge replied, "that's because they can't fly."

Classic line. Very interesting.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Maybe this Judge finally understands the true value of this profession?

MR. GALLAGHER: And that's part of the reason why the
non-pilots are below -- far below where the pilots are, Your
Honor.
THE COURT: No. It's also because they can't fly.

THE COURT: You know, sir, honestly, I know you can
replace the person that cleans the bathrooms. I don't mean to
be vulgar, but the fact is that we can take this oh, everybody
is really important, everybody is really important, and we can
take it too far, and you're taking it too far, because there
are people at the bottom of the ladder that could be replaced,
doesn't make much difference who they are, and there are people
at the top of the ladder that according to some people have
gotten paid too much in the past and may be getting paid too
much in the present. And I'm not saying that you don't need these people
but I'm saying that many of their jobs, you know, you just
simply need another person that's trained for two or three days
to do their job.

THE COURT: Well, I'm trying to say something to you.
If you're going to tell me that the person that's standing at
the counter collecting baggage checks is as important as the
pilot that's flying the plane, then you and I have difference
in values.

Very interesting.

Bye Bye--General Lee
