We've all been there...You change from center to center, approach control to tower, when suddenly that next controller sends you instructions in the sexiest voice your headset has ever heard. Its a nice change of pace you have to admit. Day in and day out we expect to deal with "Frank," a frustrated, auctioneer sounding, addicted-to-coffee FAA employee, when one day you get "Cleared ILS 35" from a woman that sounds like she'd be better off at a 1-900 service. So then you start to wonder, "I wonder if she's as hot as she sounds?" Then you start to reason the odds, and if you're like me you think, "Hot women work for Victoria's Secret or your neighborhood dentist, not in a dark cave with radar scopes." But before you're too quick to assume, consider this article from the February 2005 issue of Men's Health...and then think twice.

Entitled "The Scarlett Johansson Effect"

"A voice holds clues to a person's body shape and sexual behavior", reports a new study at Vassar College of 149 college students, published in Evolution and Human Behavior. Researchers recorded the voices of participants counting outloud from one to 10, and had members of the opposite sex (without seeing them) rate each voice. Voices that rated "attractive", consistantly belonged to people who were attractive physically (measured by waist-to-hip and shoulder-to-hip ratios) and who had the most sexual experience. Overall good health and lifestyle belonged to the "sexy voices" as well.

Hope you enjoyed this little fact, and if you really need more proof..try Tulsa tower or Addison tower in Dallas...usually later at night. This theory has GOT to be true for these two ladies.

I’ve been told more times than at can recall that I have a very sexy and sophisticated voice when on the radio.

I see the point of what they suggest when they say sexy but the sophisticated part has me baffled.

Mature maybe, or classy?

I’m very realistic about my looks I’m not what you would call hot, so maybe I buck the trend here?

Sorry to disappoint the guys!

Because I'm sure that most likely I'll never meet the person behind the voice, ALL female voices belong to very hot women!
This makes the day at the job alot better!

Post a pic and let Flech and I judge.

Not dissapointing at all. I'd rather go out with someone fun and not super good looking than with a hot looking biatch. The hot looking biatch serves another purpose, which doesn't require talking!

Haha I know exactly who you are talking about at ADS.

If it's the same one as about 4 years ago, I know who she is too. The one in Tulsa actually came from ADS. She used to do the ATIS in a bedroom voice which sounded like a 900 # operator.

There is also one in particular on SFO Arincc. Gives new meaning to giving a "position" report. She's worth listening to the static of HF just to hear it.

I have a Marine Hornet pilot friend, that thought the female voice driving the KC-135 he was getting gas from sounded hot. He's now engaged to her!
I bet they get a kick out of telling people how they met, err.. "hooked up".

There used to be someone at LGB that had that 976-ATIS voice going.

no no no...that's wrong 100%

I met a heif--- lady...that worked approach/tower and she sounded gorgeous...finally got to meet her and I'll be dammed if she wasn't as wide as she was tall...voice isn't always an indication of the body shape...

....but if you're talking about TUL (Tulsa int'l) then yeah...the lady that works tower there was smokin...cleared me for the option off the ILS and darned if I didn't almost...well...you know

Yes, there was and she went a bit overboard with the "voice" at times too. I was friends with several EMT controllers who knew of her and they told me she was 5x5...

You know, 5' tall and 5' wide...

Peace

Aw ShadowFlight, you've just ruined it for a whole generation of LGB pilots!

I think one of the girls you guys are talking about at ADS is Stephanie. She is super sweet and I love talking to her but I've heard she is not quite the knockout that every pilot thinks she is. I'm afraid to go visit her in the tower because I don't want to ruin my poor misguided illusions of her:D. Ya gotta love her atis broadcasts though!!!

Sorry English but, from what I understand, there is no room dark enough to even make a run at her worthwhile! :D

Anyone know the woman working mansfield approach? Sounds pretty hot.

"For further information, dial 1-900-TOWERRR. Advise on initial contact you have XXX-ray."

Back in the late 80's there was such a voice some nights on the old "Coast Approach" (now SoCal). It was a quiet night, I had been in her airpsace a number of times in a week or two, so I said, on the radio, something like, "I'd like to meet the woman behind the voice sometime." She was pretty friendly to begin with. "How are you this evening?" stuff like that. And she said to come on in and visit. I never did. The facility wasn't located on any of my usual airports. Not saying it was true in her case, but sometimes it's better to know only the voice! But sure made those flights more pleasant. Have found it can go either way with voices and women. Good to get some intel first, if you can. Let us know if you meet any of these ladies.

You've never heard of the "real life" effect? If you never read the "choir boys" by Joseph Waumbaugh...you wouldn't know what I'm talking about.

Whoa... there's someone hot in mansfield and I didn't know it!??! 17 years of living in here and i haven't run into her yet!?!?! Still seeing (but not dating) nothing but the Wal-Mart beauties in this town :D

FN FAL...I didn't come up with the theory or even write the paragraph shown in my thread. If you don't like it, write Men's Health.

I know some or the RJ drivers here heard, who we called, "Breathless" at TOL. This woman was the sexiest controller you will ever hear at 3-6 am on the radio. She would clear you to land, see you trying to make the center taxi way and get on the radio " Can you make it Air Transport, (just as you start to turn she would say) Coooooooooo!) But she retired last year after being an approach-tower controller for ever. She often got in trouble 'cause her voice and some of the old fart we fly with who cold not get it up with Viagra/Cialis/Kamagra hated her style.
