There are people in every industry that make stupid decisions... Thankfully there are more that make good ones. This is the story of the week.
 
Don't get me wrong, any pension is better than no pension, but my understanding is that the ATC pension pays on a 1.7% multiplier. I don't think many people would retire at 40 with 1/3rd pay.

1.7 for the first 20 then 1 for every year after. This is based off the high 3.
 
This is true. Most take up a supervisory role after 15 or so years, with the pay being much higher. ATC is the highest paying position supported by the US govt that doesnt require a 4 year degree. Great gig for those of us that were young enough and smart enough to get out of the cockpit early. Combine that with the napping opportunities and movie hour at 2pm, its easy to see the immense benefits;)


I thought a 4 year degree has been a requirement?
 
What's the point of this thread? Easy to point fingers when you are not inside that career field. Reminds me of when my friends told me being an airline pilot is a cake job, autopilot flies, you sit back, and you work 75 hours in a month and make $150,000+/yr.
