I think your right. I've already heard talk about a fence, from a very reputable source.General Lee said:If I were to GUESS, I would bet someone other than SkyWest, since DL doesn't want all of their eggs again in one basket. I think Mesa and CHQ would be the front runners obviously. Mesa will have it's hands full with a few other projects, like GO! Hawaii, and CHQ will be looking for planes for their CAL feed if Expressjet doesn't give up their 69 ERJs. I will bet CHQ buys them and uses 69 of their older CRJ200s for the CAL feed, while they replace some DL feed with newer 70 seaters. Just a guess.

jetfo said:The only problem with that is that I don't see XJT keeping the 69 ERJ's. I really don't see who would want them, other than CHQ for their CAL contract.
If that is the case, it would seem more likely for Mesa to pick up Comair, and in view of Mesa's increasing involvement with DL that wouldn't be too surprising.
Also, I don't see CHQ wanting the CRJ's when they are an all ERJ carrier.
Hey, I have an idea! Maybe XJT will pick up CMR. Other possibilities are Air Wisconsin and depending on what happens at Mesaba and PNCL they could be options as well.

TO/TO said:just remember, it doesn't have to be an airline that buys us. there are plenty of investment groups that are looking for investment oportunities. there are wealthy individuals with plenty of money to invest. there could be an IPO. there could be an LBO. who knows.
i would venture to say that Comair will be sold soon (Delta needs cash and low cost feed). Probably will happen shortly after the FA's are taken care of. There could be a backroom deal that has already been done and we just don't know it. Perhaps that is why delta is not backing down from the 42 Mil cost savings number. Perhaps the potential buyer(s) has been quoted a specified cost savings and rate of return for Comair. who knows.
I personally would rather NOT be bought by another airline. if you are owned by another airline, they (MGMT) can play one group against another. they can't do that if THEY can't transfer planes or flying to another group.
More along the lines of, put them in the desert and wait for concessions.General Lee said:My buddy at Expressjet said they have no intention of returning the 69 ERJs, and they don't have to. They apparently have a "plan" to do something else with them. I have no idea what that means, but they won't be flying for CAL it looks like. He mentioned a couple of ideas, which may not be true, like creating a fractional airline with the ERJs--with corporate shuttle type operations for companies. I don't know....

kngarthur said:It only make sense now that I think about it. CHQ will buy Comair! I bet you the deal is already done:
1. Coex codeshare was a big suprise (meaning our union is kept in the dark).
2. BB remarked in his letter that XJT keeping those planes would actually benifit us.
3. Rumors about fences if CHQ pick up CRJ's
4. Common bases (MCO, GSO)
5. FA's easily replaced.
6. SKYW and Mesa, tied up right now
7. Oh yea the E-170!!!
Im not saying that I know anything, but I think the writing is on the wall.

Tell your mom I said hi.
jetfo said:Hah Hah Hah! You're so funny!
How about this, CMR get DOH and most of you guys go back to the right seat, now that's funny.
Better yet, all regionals get sold to Mesa. You go JO!
sleddriver77 said:My Three Bucks says that REPUBLIC will NOT buy ComAir. However, I would not be surprised to see Wexford Capital (majority shareholder of Republic) buy ComAir. The Problem with RAH buying ComAir is the fleet type and seniority integration issues. The RAH pilot contract states any flying done by any airline operated by RAH will flown by pilots on the Chautauqua seniority list. No matter how that integration shook out, MOST of the pilots most likely would need to be re-trained for a different aircraft based upon what their (new) seniority's bid could hold. Since ComAir is pretty much a good solid stand-alone entity with their own ground support at most stations, along with the non-common fleet type issue, it would be best to keep them separate from Chautauqua/Republic if "Republic" (ooops, Wexford) were to buy them. A purchase by Mesa would be a whole other breed of cat.
EMB Skillz said:Anything is possible, but CMR pilots would definitely be pulling gear for the CHQ pilots if CMR is acquired. But dont worry, you guys will always have your stories of the "good ol days" at the Academy.
arthompson said:Whats to say CMR is going to be sold at all? Everyone speculated on who was going to buy the USX carriers when US was in BK as well, and look what happened, they weren't sold.
