Chautauqua has been in official contract negotiations since June. The contract expired last November.

I have seen, responded to and debated posts on this board and others regarding CHQ in particular and the contract carriers in general. I have no illusions as to the opinions of the non-contract carriers, both mainline and regional, to the whole issue of outsourcing. Nor do I lack respect for the positions taken in this regard.

My question is this: It appears this will be a bitter fight. Will CHQ have your backing?

If my gutless union were to actually stand up against management, I suspect CHQ wouldn't stand behind us, but I personally stand behind them, for what that is worth. They are pilots and they are trying to better their contract, I hope they succeed and get a darned good one, for everyone's benefit. The fewer regional pilots working for nothing out there, the better, and if they have the balls to stand up against management, they earn a lot more respect in my book. Good luck guys.

The bottom line is if we all back guys like CHQ and they get a better contract than it becomes less atractive for others to outsource to them. The company "Brand Managers" would not be looking to others if it was not financaly prudent. You guys got my suport. Good luck.

Stiffler, relax, you took me wrong, and I didn't state my point correctly I think. I also know a few guys at CHQ.

I work for a wholly owned US Airways regional. If we were to take a stand against management, the Express management would just shift the 88 other U express regionals around to cover "our" flying, and that would include CHQ, along with the 87 others. CHQ management is who those who don't like CHQ should be angry with, and CHQ management would not have a problem picking up extra flying. CHQ pilots would probably never know. U Group's use of all these different carriers in the express system allows them to whipsaw us and cover things if one of us doesn't play ball. We were faced with this just lately and took this whole J4J screwing because the majority of us were scared that we would be run over and left behind, and that might be a valid fear.

I certainly wasn't bashing anyone. I hope they get a good contract, and if they stand up to management they will earn a lot of respect. Look at Comair, everyone bashed them for still having so many guys who PFT, until they struck and showed everyone their will.
