I think most of the folks who are taking offense at his remarks missed his qualifying statement:

"The Christian Church overwhelmingly -- there are exceptions - who choose to call Muhammad a terrorist -- they could call Jesus a terrorist too," said Clark. "I mean, he was pretty tough on money lenders a time or two."

To paraphrase, "Those who choose to call Muhammad a terrorist...." I certainly don't and I doubt most who are familiar with Muhammad's writings would. However, he said, those who do could just as easily call Jesus Christ a terrorist for his actions with the moneychangers (not money lenders) in the temple. Of course, in doing so, he is equating killing thousands at a shot to driving sacriligious folks out of the temple with a whip. THAT seems a stretch.

According to Tucker Carlson or Rob Novak (CNN), I think they will both agree that us Canadians can be considered terrorists ;)

Today on Crossfire, Tucker suggested to add Canadians to the axis of evil... I would recommend not to piss us off though- we have a few F18s and a couple of big boats :) Not to mention we could always send Tom Green to annoy the sh!t out of our enemies.

Just as long as you don't send us the Red Green Show. That would be in direct violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty!

Ah yes, the Red Green show- probably the worst show, next to Roseanne and Moesha.

It's funny you mention that though- my roomate and I were just discussing the other day about how crappy Canadian comedy TV shows are; in general, there are lots of funny Canadians out there (Jim Carrey, Martin Short, John Candy (RIP), etc)... however, with TV shows like "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" and "The Red Green Show," I feel ashamed!

One pretty funny clip is Rick Mercer's "Talking To Americans." Although I think it is in poor taste, he basically travels around the USA and exploits how little Americans, in general, know about Canadians. Famous clips include him nabbing Bush and Gore- he tells Bush our Prime Minister, Mr. Poutine (our real PM is Jean Chretien) was pleased to sponsor Bush in the election. Bush then went on to say what an honourable neighboor Mr. Poutine is and how he and Poutine have shared a lot of good times together. It was cruel, but funny. Mr. Mercer also managed to convince some people that Canada uses a 20 hour clock, that daily newspapers are illegal in Canada, that 80% of Canadians are retarded (my favourite one!) and that our Parliament building is an igloo.

If I may interject...

If you boarded an airliner on 9/15/01, and Christ sat down beside you, assuming he wasn't wearing a name tag or a halo or what not, you probably would have been very alert to his every move.

No, Joshua was not a middle eastern terrorist...but he probably looked like one!

People who get their panties in a wad over what Clark said are perfectly demonstrating why we have a terrorism problem in the first place. "Hey, he said something mean about my God! Let's go screw up his life for a while!" I wish our society would grow up a little...

Good idea. Let's start here.
 Yeah, right! Let's talk about improving society by introducing religious and social tolerance on a board where you can spark the mother of all holy wars just by typing "PFT" or "RJDC!"

Oh come on now! As an american I have to admit that "Talking to Americans" is about the funniest (yet shameful) thing I've ever seen. And what about Air Farce? It's usually much funnier than Saturday Night Live. I even enjoy Red Green and 22 minutes. Compared to the crap we yanks have on TV, you all are lucky.

Ali G rules. Yeah, he makes fun of us too. He's British though. That's almost Canadian. Same teeth.

Actually, my comment about "let's start here" was a weak, toungue-in-cheek reference to this:

People who get their panties in a wad over what Clark said are perfectly demonstrating why we have a terrorism problem in the first place. "Hey, he said something mean about my God! Let's go screw up his life for a while!" I wish our society would grow up a little...

In other words, it was a veiled request to not inflame folks by making references to "panties in a wad", or to create a dialogue to illlustrate your disdain for those who obey the command "You shall have no others gods before ME".

So, by not making that post, you can "start here". :D

Now, if you can show me how Clark's words can be supported, using the accounts of Christ and the accounts of Mohammed, I am open to hearing you out. You can send me a private on this if you like.

I think that we see opinions like Clark's due to post-modernist ecumenicalism, the "I'm okay - you're okay" of religious thought, where all views and beliefs are treated as having equal weight and value. According to the I Am God of the Bible, this is not the truth.

When we let this type of blurry thinking go unchallenged, as exemplified in the words of Ramsey Clark, our cockpit safety is not being enhanced. Truly, it is the kind of thinking that prevents us from identifying those boarding an aircraft who are really a threat, and instead spend countless man hours shaking down gramndmas.

On a lighter note, Christ would have no trouble boarding at all. After his death on the cross, he appeared to his friends and associates many times, easliy passing through doors, walls, and very likely, groups of security personnel. :D :D :D
