Who commutes from COS?

Seeing as living in the midwest no longer agrees with me I am looking into moving back west and one of the places I am seriously considering is COS. I lived in CO prior so I know the area and I seem to recall it being fairly nice (and there are mountains!) but I am curious about the usual commuting issues out of COS (parking, number of flights, other commuters, etc). I will be commuting to ORD. I know DIA is just an hour north but my company only has about 200 pilots/FAs that commute to ORD from there to say nothing of the other airlines so I think Ill just skip that if I can. How long is the drive up to Copper or Breck from the Springs? Any thoughts?

Try PassRider.com and UA has about 5 flights a day. Screw the summit county tourist trap. Go 50 to 285 and hit crested butte or drive up to wolf creek and telluride. 10 times the skiing without the posers.

Ya I lived in DRO for 4 years so I know Wolf Creek and Telluride well but that is a heck of a drive from the Springs... I do miss that Wolf Creek powder though - hence this move...

Copper/Breck

Breck is about 2.5 hours from COS
Copper is around 3.

This assumes going the back way across South Park/Hoosier pass.

Ski Cooper (just north of Leadville) is around 3-3.5 but cheaper/great uncrowded skiing and there is always the hot springs afterward.

Aspin is 5-7. Have to go around via Glenwood as Independence pass is not kept open during the winter.

Crusty Butte is about 5-6 hours away.

Wolf Creek is about 6-8 hours.

On the first day of summer, the temp-o-meter was 32.5 degrees when I work up. I just love spring/summer time in the Rockies!!
