I'm pretty sure that New Hampshire doesn't have any sales tax.

Are there any other states that don't have sales tax? If so what are they.

What about states that do have sales taxes, but are very low? What are they?

Thanks a bunch!

New Hampshire and Oregon have no state sales tax and New Hampshire has no state income tax.

No sales tax in Montana.

Gotcha beat. Alaska has no sales (state) or income tax and they pay you to live here via the Permanent Fund Dividend. $1100 this year.

Wow, 8 1/4! And I thought 7 3/4 was alot where I live in Illinois.

So to summarize, these are the states that do not have SALES tax:

1) Oregon
2) Alaska
3) Montana
4) New Hampshire
5) Deleware (maybe??? Can anyone else confirm?)

Any more???

Thanks alot guys

Deleware does not have a sales tax. At least not as of this summer. NY will also steal 8 1/4 % from you on every purchase.

Our hotel van driver in MHT, NH said that all of the tax revenue is derived from property tax.

they may not have a sales tax, but ill bet dimes to dollars they make it up in some form or another, be it income tax (some states do not have that either), or higher property tax, etc etc etc

Broken down as indicated for the largest city in each state. Last number on the right is percent of income towards major taxes expense. There were different tables for higher and lower incomes. I put "State tax comparison" in my search engine.

Actually, ANCHORAGE, Alaska doesn't have sales tax (they will have it though more sooner than later if you look at how screwed up the Anchorage city budget is) Pretty much every other town or city has at least a 7% sales tax. There is no state income tax, but I'll tell you right now, when the oil runs out, watch out! (And ANWR won't save the state government, no matter what the conservitates tell you) Plus that bonehead ex-senator turned gonevor (who sent his kid to Washington in his place, which sickens me) wants to build a gas pipeline and more access roads in Alaska and he wants to pay for it by raiding the dividend after he went on TV last year during the campaign and swore up and down to the people that he wouldnt touch the dividend. Now, the legislature is getting closer and closer to raiding that money and when they do, no more dividends. In other words, don't move to Alaska thinking you'll get free monry forever. Ain't gonna happen.

AND, the dividends we do get ain't by no means tax free either. The first weeks of October every year is nice, but when April 15 hits, Ouch!
