It is easy to bash another regional. Especially, when they have one of the poorsest schedules, work rules, and compensation package. I would focus your decision on Domicile, Pay, Upgrade time, time off, and compensation package. Speak with people who work or have worked at both airlines and I am sure your choice will become very easy.

This isn't true. We (Mesa) get paid for MX cancelations.

Anyway, I fly for Mesa and go to Express Jet. Most of what is said here is true. It is all exaggerated, but in a toned down version it is true.


The main reason I would say go to Express Jet is the fact the U will be CH7 in the next few months and Mesa (along with CHQ and TSA) are going to have to furlough, at least in the short term. You don't want to go through that.

You should not be able to post on here until you meet the hiring mins. Mesa - 2-3 year upgrades - Express Jet 8 year upgrades - Not a hard decision unless you want to be a lifer at the regionals.

How many people actually update those things? He could have written that information 5 years ago and now flies for Southwest or the likes... Just something to think about.

Since he or she joined in May of 2004 it would be hard for them not to update their info in 5 years. Need to pay attention to detail my friend. Also - I fly for Mesa and was offered a job at ExpressJet in Jan of 2004 and that is what they told us in the interview - so that is where I received my info.

The first pilot at XJT hired after the last furlough came back will be able to hold captain WELL before 4 years.

XJT will hire (est.)500+ pilots in 2005.

XLT will lose (est.)400+ pilots from their sen. list within the next 12-14 months.

This just simply isn't true. I've read Mesa's CBA cover to cover several times. Have you read XJT's new CBA? If not, PM me your email and I will send you a copy of it as well as a copy of the highlights of our new agreement and a line by line comparison of our TA versus the Comair contract. Frankly, while Mesa did make improvements over their previous CBA, XJT's new CBA is more favorable in every single area.

Yes, I have read it. Yes, it is an improvement and yes it is better than Mesas. But as most commuter contracts, ( the ones I have read and compared ) still a way to go before I will consider them good contracts.

Not quite. XJT's union is ALPA, made up by the XJT pilot membership. Mesa's union is ALPA, made up by the Mesa pilot membership. Not one in the same.

Leadership aside, it's the membership that makes up a union...
