You really think so????

I had the same respect as any officer. Take that as you may :) I felt I had MORE respect from the enlisted guys as they knew that what I had was attainable to them with some hard work and perseverence. After all, thats where I came from. And now with the CW5 grade and CW4's and 5's being moved into field grade housing, maybe it's not as bad as you make it out.

But to say a "high paid enlisted guy with a club card" seems a little out there, but is HAS been awhile (reference my extensive OV-1 experience). Of course, being in fixed wing, I was spoiled (hence the smell).

The good thing about Warrants...most were enlisted at one point, so the enlisted guys share mutual respect for the warrants...not so much for the RLO's. I wouldn't go RLO, I don't care what you pay me. I enjoy the warrant officer corps (hopefully it lasts). I fly, that's my job. I get along with everyone 'cause I'm right in between. Works out well, if you ask me. On the other post about retirement...it's amazing what a CW5 makes after 20-23 years..look up the pay scale sometime.

Ok, ok, ok, time to put out the flames...heheh though it was fun, but let us help the kid.

PilotLevi - what all these meatheads are trying to say but cannot do it without their foot in their mouth is this....It is all up to what you want to do if you can do it.

If you want to fly helos or OV-10's and you meet the Army's qualifications (breathing with a heartbeat) got for it
If you want to fly heavy aircraft and put in some long hauls, go with the Air Force.
If you want to see the world from the front seat of a fighter and like to try landing on a floating matchbook - Go Navy or Marines

Just make sure that whatever you decide to go into - you will be able to apply it to the civilian world.

I think almost everyone in here will agree with that.

Side note about the Army taking anyone: My son-in-law tried to impress me by following in my footsteps and joining the Marine Corps, they would not take him. He had a GED and the Corps would not take him unless he had 'continued education' with his GED. He went two doors down and in two weeks he was off to basic.

Moral to the story: the Marine Corps won't take just and weed puller.

I would not go as far to say that. Seeing how the pilot training drops are out of the Navy school houst, you will most likely end up in a chopper. Fixed wing slots are hard to come by for the navy, at least in the previous years. Depending on where you go to UPT in the AF you stand a good chance of getting a fighter slot. Usually about 20 - 25% get fighters out of each class get tracked into the T-38, which usually equates to about 60-75% percent who want the T-38 get it.

The Marine educational standard at work.

Army? OV-10's?

Did I miss a memo? The only OV-10s I ever saw in the Army were at an airshow.

If the sign says "KEEP OFF THE GRASS", how can you mow it?

Actually, the TACs more often said "Get in the grass" than anything else. Got to be friends with a few blades of grass, up and close!
