I am currently a Part 135 PIC (pax). Planning on getting the ATP written done soon, and am wondering which one I need to take?

I want to get the ATP when I do my next PC (if the inspector will agree). So I am assuming I need the 135 for that?

Now here is my problem - I may apply for 121 carriers before my next PC. I want to be able to use the ATP written to my advantage when applying. However will they care if it is a 135 written? Also what if I get the 135 written but then go 121. When (or if in the current economy) I upgrade and get the ATP, will I have to re-take the ATP written?

After you have the ATP, does it matter how you got it (135 vs 121)?

As you can tell I am a bit confused.

It doesn't matter which written you take. The main difference (besides the reg questions) is that the default a/c on the 135 written is the Beech 1900 and I believe that it's a DC9 on the 121 written. Either written is good for the rating.

Actually I believe its the 727 and the 1900 but then again I took it ten years ago.

I'm studying for the 121 ATP, but had a question...

What's the difference between Domistic operations, Flag operations and Supplemental operations?

The current list of aircraft in the 2005 book for perfomance questions are
B1900
DC9
737
727

Correct me if I'm wrong but,

Domestic: Within contiguous U.S.

Flag: International airline based in U.S.

Supplemental: Cargo

Actually Supplemental 121 is unscheduled service. "Charter" It can be either passanger or cargo.

I wouldn't be confused...my plan after getting my bachelor degree, is to get my ATP written done, then pursue the 737 type or the Citation type. Either one should net me my ATP rating when I am done.

I figure any one that goes to a regional with an ATP in a duchess in hand, has done nothing but raised the price of admission to the regionals, by the cost of an ATP in a duchess. If you feel that is what is necessary to be competitive...then you can thank those slip on shoe wearing faggots that got hired ahead of you for making you spend that money. There is no requirement for an FO at a regional, nor a major, to possess an ATP...nor the written. At least not by the FAA.

ATP written 135 vs 121? That's another story...Pick one. It's a rediculus requirement anyway...and the fact that they have two, but it don't matter which one you take, proves it.
