Which airplane for FreeLance instruction

Anyone have an opinion on the best (cheapest) airplane to use for free lance instruction. Would buying a C-150 or 172 be my best bet? Located in Eastern PA.

I would go with the 172 anyday. With the limited useful load of a 150/152, you may have to turn some of prospective students down due to weight issues. If you go with the 172, you would also have a sturdy IFR training platform and could offer instrument instruction as well. All in all, just a whole lot more utility for the $$$.

But, of course, this advice is worth exactly what you paid for it . .

I have a C150 and also freelance. I agree with flywest. The C150 is quite limiting. However, check out the insurance before you buy anything.

For my level of experience, insurance was quoted to me at $3570 a year - for the C150...

You might also look at the Piper Cherokee 140 or Warrior line. Pretty comparable to the 172, but in a low wing design. I agree with flywest and toy soldier, look for a 4-seater for more options with students as well as doing instrument training in.
