Looking at going out to San Diego in October with some friends. None of us have ever been there before and we're wondering where to stay to be close to the action. Preferably somewhere with an airline discount. Any suggestions?

Marriott Gas Lamp district. Ground zero! Otherwise the Marriott Marina about a half a mile away. Both very close to the airport. Don't need a car for either spot so when you knee walk back to the hotel, every thing turns out okay. Please keep the noise down in the hallways!

Hyatt, very nice property and a great seafood buffet which is either on wed or thurs. The Hotel Del is also first class in every way but somewhat pricey.

enjoy SAN, great city-

take the trolley down to the border and hop over into TJ, always a good time and always nice SDSU eye candy that goes there.

Don't waste your money. PM HMR, he has some connections on some cheap rooms across the border in Tijuana.
