I was told that you can go online and listen to real-world live ATC communication between Pilot's and ATC. I wanted to do this to become familiar with the lingo and see how it all works in the real world to get some extra practice.

Anybody know of any sites for this?

also, what is the best software for practicing ATC? Is there anything that actually lets you talk through a microphone and the computer can recognize what you are saying? if so, how accurate are these?

Not all of them work, but that should be a decent start.

As far as sim games for it, Tower use to be a game in production, but is now abandonware. Tracon (and various versions including Tracon for Windows, Tracon II, etc.) is another decent game. There are a few that are in production now. I beta tested a few of them. Nothing on the market that I know of yet.

Comm1 puts out pilot communication software for VFR and IFR. Apparently from what I have seen you can speak into your computer and the software records your readbacks but the computer does not understand what you say. It's probably a good product if you are mic shy. Good luck.

If you go to Yahoo and type in "aviation links" and do a search, click on the very first hit. It should be called "Stalag 13 Aviation links." When that page opens, it automatically starts running live Chicago atc. I'm not sure it it's tracon, approach, etc...

Call Simuflite in Dallas and ask to be put on hold for a while....I think it is the DFW Tracon. Hey, it's better than musak.
