I did the 10 hour program. They would have given it to me, but I hadn't flown in almost 2 years so I figured I needed to brush off the rust. Turns out I was ready to go for the check-ride after about 4 hours. However, in Bowling Green they are all about being productive. I did the 10 hour program with the checkride in 3 days. They normally do 4 days. They also have a Frasca set up for you to use at your leisure for no extra cost.

I am with the others here. If you can jumpseat up to Presque Isle, go see John. I left the airline and no longer had flight benefits to get up there, so with the cost of getting me there it was a cheaper option for me to do it with ALL ATPs.

John will pick you up at the hotel at 7:00am. You go to breakfast (you buy his breakfast) and talk about his time in the Air Force. Small talk about your experience and his war stories. You then go out to the airport and talk about his aircraft for maybe 30 minutes. Then into the aircraft and off you go. 4 approaches and a hold. Back to the airport by about noon and on your way home. You fly his airplane, so don't worry, he won't let you bend it.

A about a week or two before you arrive he will send you all the approaches that you will be doing and the general specs to his aircraft, Vspeeds etc. and the profiles for the operation of it.

very straight forward from what I hear.

Things are about to move quickly. My advice: let the company pay for the ATP at upgrade and save your money for 1st year FO pay at a legacy.

...of course, that wasn't your question: "to ATP or not to ATP".

If you're trying to further your career and become a more competitive legacy candidate, put the money toward a sex change. Ayyyyyeee Oooooh!

A... If u are going to an airline they could care less about an ATP... Even with 4500 hours u will still be an FO for 4 to 6 years. U will get an ATP on your type ride, much easier in the sim and it's free. As for allatps instructed there for a little while, the program is great.

disregard

John Trask, Presque Isle, ME (PQI)

Went to John in March. $2250

Very laid back and straight forward process.

Great experience. He gets you done in the morning, go to lunch with him

and he gives you a ride back to the airport to pick up the Colgan flight to

boston.

Thinking about going to John Trask, Presque Isle, ME. What is the oral like? What is the type of aircraft that he uses?

He has an old Seneca I with an HSI and he will send you the info on it ahead of time. Headsets are already in the airplane as well as the charts you will need. He told me the Oral was discussed after breakfast. About 30 minutes of talking about his airplane. What I hear anyway. I wouldn't sweat it. I did mine at ALL ATPs and my oral was about 35 minutes and VERY straight forward. I would expect John's oral to be even better.
