For me I seem pretty high on the totum pole. For example I relate a lot to what goes on in my everyday life to flying. A few examples.

1) While driving to a wedding reception a while ago a co-worker was following me and got lost. She called and described where she was and I tried best I could to get her there. It crossed my mind of how effective I'd be as an air traffic controller if I had to perform a flight assist for an aircraft in distress.

2) On a dreary rainy day I always check ADDS to see what the ceilings, vis and cloud tops are and decide if I would fly or not.

3) When driving and I have a close call with another driver who isn't paying attention and I feel my heart sink I wonder how I'd handle an engine failure after takeoff or another catastrophic emergencies in the air.

I will also listen to ATC online for about 30 minutes/day, use microsoft flight sim for another 30 min or so, talk a lot to more experienced pilots about all things aviation and so on. Just curious if others are as addicted to flying as I am. I'm sure if I went to AA and took the Alcoholics questionare and replaced "drinking" with "flying" that I would have a positive diagnosos as an aviation addict!!!

I hear ya bra...we as pilots accept the regulatory nature of our jobs, plus we accept the responsiblity of our positions. We also respect the responsibility of our actions and we know that negligence, arrogance and complancency can get us, our passengers or people on the ground injured or killed...not to mention expensive property damage.

Meanwhile, the captain or captainesse of that SUV that's next to us on the road talking on their cell phone...what the hell do they care? That's why I f@ck with them to the extent that the criminal, traffic and physics laws will allow...and then some. Untill all cars have dash cams...I am the devil!

Did you mean to post this under the "Dorky pilot" thread?
No...I think the brother that posted the original thread has a point...and it's not dorky.

But thanks for the input!
