Question for the green tail guys...

Where do the hiring folks at AirTran call home? I know the interviews and sim are done at AirInc in ATL, but since HQ is in Orlando, where will my resume sleep while I can't sleep? If someone was to "drop in and check on my status" would they do this in Georgia or Florida?

Thx...

Was riding in the crew van recently with an Airtran crew who told me to just show up down in Orlando with my resume and walk it in myself. He then gave me the names of two contacts in HR down there and said to specifically ask for them. I thought that this sounded a little strange, and might not get the positive reaction that I'm hoping for. Has anyone ever done this before, and what was Airtran's reaction to this either positive or negative. I'm just trying to figure out if this crew was giving me good or bad advise.

NO. Do not show up at headquarters. If you want to meet face to face the best way to do so is by attending an AirInc career fair.

Thanks DCitrus 9, that's what I figured, but thought I would ask anyway. The Air Inc Conferences seem like the best way to meet the recruiters face to face. I'm not sure why that Capt. thought that just showing up down in Orlando with a resume in hand was the best way to get them my resume. When is the next time they will be at one of these events?

A lot of active line pilots will give that advice since the person in charge of the pilot hiring is friendly and more than willing to talk to any current employee. Unfortunately the reality of it is that the recruiter is terribly swamped and doesn't have time for the inevitable "small talk" with the applicant. Not to mention that the applicant "has two friends" and then they make a similar visit, and so on, and so on. I suffered this quite a lot in the past, and learned the hard way about drawing the line and not see folks who "dropped by".

Good luck!!
