The fact that your previous employer will not re-hire you means almost nothing to a prospective employer.

It does matter. But I noticed that most previous employers do not comment on if you are eligible for rehire.

I think this topic started with leaving Mesaba on short/no notice. Up until ealier this year (not sure about now) the HR lady at Mesaba would put NA on the eligible for rehire section. NWA mainline also had a policy about not commenting on if you are eligble for rehire. But, those policies can always change. So it does matter to prospective employers but most previous employers will not comment (I'm guessing liablility issues).
