When will Midwest obtain single carrier status with the NMB?

Has the Midwest ALPA filed a petition for single carrier status with the National Mediation Board for Republic and Midwest?

As mentioned in my earlier post, a law passed in 2007 requires that anytime an airline buys more than 50% of the assets or equity of another airline and combines them into a single airline the labor groups shall be integrated in a "fair and equitable manner" or as otherwise agreed to by the labor groups.

It seems to me that the first step in this process is to file a petition for single carrier status with the National Mediation Board to start the process rolling. Once single carrier status is granted by the NMB, the next step would be an agreement on seniority or of no agreement is made within 20 days of the "controversy arising"....the seniority of the Midwest pilots at Republic would be determined by an arbitrator.

It will happen. RAH wants an integrated seniority list, Teamsters wants an integrated seniority list, and Midwest pilots are unfortunately losing the only aircraft they are currently entitled to fly by the end of the year. Integration will benefit all parties more than separate lists will. Since Midwest pilots have drawn the short straw in this, I expect they will push for arbitration in an effort to maximize their standing on the new combined list. Teamsters will make a few offers, but I am sure none of them will be accepted.
