When is CAL going to bring United guys back

Reserves working 11 days straight and its just Feb, how much longer can they hold out before they start bringing more guys back? Anyone heard anything?

We are hearing conflicting stories. However one that seems to be prevalent is that CO is wanting to renege on the deal because it is also rumored that UA is going to recall as well. CO doesn't want to pay to train the UA furloughs in seniority order, then have those same pilots recalled at UA in seniority order and then have to replace them with additional UA furloughs.

They signed the Transition Agreement, they knew what they were getting into, staff the f$&@ing airline.

How is the staffing on the UAL side?

The most prevalent rumor is that the company does not intend to bring furloughed UAL pilots on. Perhaps the good news is that the reason they're balking is that a recall at UAL is expected. Take it FWIW because nothing official has been announced but the staffing situation at CAL on the 737 is particularly stressed at the moment.

There are positions from the October 2010 bid that were never staffed. Almost 50 positions! 147 pilots were recalled, 99 returned. They are needed now and I don't think the company has any intention of staffing them.

Just waiting for the end of the TA, then it will be outsourced. Once the company gets the SOC, they then will be able to increase UAX by about 10- 15% to meet the new total UAL flying....problems solved! that even takes care of the upcoming retirements. If this was not the case, then why are there no intentions of spooling up training to cover the understaffing, let alone next years retirement boom!!

Since you have decided to nitpick it -

United did not dilute their shares, new shares were issued for a new holding company to both sides. Dilution of shares is when more shares are issued for the same base of assets minus liabilities, ie the same company but more outstanding shares. The holding company of United Continental Holdings now absorbs all of Continental's assets, liabilities, earnings, etc as well as United's. Shares of the former separate companies were surrendered and new shares issued for the new holding company. Since there is no reason to have a conversion rate for both sides, one side gets shares 1 for 1 and the other via some ratio.

The new company, after combination, will be called United, but this was a merger, not an acquisition. There is a big difference. An acquisition means that all shareholders are bought out, as the company they hold shares in is acquired. A merger is a combination of two companies to form a new one (United Continental Holdings) where shares are reissued to reflect the ownership in the new company.

Exactly; a merger. The planes say United, but it is most certainly a Continental paint scheme. A merger of equals, no buyout.

And who cares...They merged BOTH names..United on the front and Airlines on the back...that came from CAL...and HQ is in Chicago...I think you can see who is in final control of this merger.

How bout a JCBA that pays and protects....

I seriously doubt that they will make a guy go to CAL then train them again to go back to United...they can move aircraft around to create the shortage on the United side....its coming.

The reason that the UAL pilots arent being hired is ALPA, plain and simple. I can't wait to vote that POS "union" off property.
