..................When exactly does Your Hourly Pay Start---Wheels Up? Or Pushback?
Please tell me what rule Your airline follows concerning pay start.

XJT starts at block out (when the parking brake is released...via acars), and pay goes until main cabin door open...again via acars.

Actually untill the cargo door opens......

Hourly pay at ASA, and I would imagine for pretty much all airlines, begins when the flight technically begins. At ASA, this means external doors closed, ready for pushback, paperwork has been passed out the door prior. Hourly pay ends at block in, reverse of above.

Pushback for guys with ACARS. Whatever you "call the times" for guys w/o ACARS. I love watching/hearing SWA guys on the ops radio call in there times. Most of the time there is like a 10-20 min diff in their actual verses "called times". Smart on SWA's part as they get on-time performance but only pay segment pay to the flight crew. If I owned/ran an airline I wouldn't have ACARS either. ACARS are stupid, when I was at ALG we were always "on-time" just like SWA (unless the diff was large like greater than 20 min), the company wins, you win why have ACARS. I hate having it at MDA.

Exactly, forgot to mention ASA negative on the ACARS, and needless to say, the fudge factor can be entertaining.

Yeah I agree, lying is always better. It keeps the pressure off to really do the job expeditiously.

Dude I'm with ya but we have acars at XJT but I remember the good ol days of 5 early all the time unless it was really obvious...now we get called in to the CP for 1 late.

go ahead get pissed off at me. That was not my intention but whatever..

It's alright. You can still cheat with ACARS.:)

I second that, it is actually easier with ACARS because you can play with the clock and make it look believeable. The point is that with or without ACARS you still get the times that you want.

besides having the tug driver bump you back a few feet, how do you guys "trip" the clock. In the 170 I think the only way we can do this is to have the tug "bump" us.

Some of the old MetroJet and DC-9/MD-80 guys I've been flying with tell me that in thoes planes you could mess with the door or clock CB to get the time going.

At my airline, your out time is when the chocks are pulled any you're being pushed out. I 've heard some people say that it starts when your main door is closed. For example, last month, we closed our door and were standing by for engine start. We were something like #10 in line for deicing. Turns out we had to wait over 4 hours to deice. Even though our door was closed, we werent blocked out yet. If we blocked out right when the door was closed, the times in the aircraft logbook would be something like a 5.5 hour block from STL to IND. We don't have acars or anything like that, so we just call the times whatever we decide on (within reason of course).
