I was recently offered an interview at Compass Airlines, and was told that if hired I could be a Captain on an ERJ-175 by October. Two new A/C a month until 12/08 and ten captains per a/c. Currently I am a Captain on an ATR at a Fedex Feeder flying about 35-40hrs with most weekends and one week off a month. Should I take the leap or stay? I am 350hrs short of 1000 PIC TURBINE MULTI. Thanks for your input.

Stay and enjoy life. I wouldn't jump to a regional unless my current qol was bad, which obviously yours doesn't sound that bad. I've flown at the regionals, cargo, and corporate... I like cargo the best. Get all the PIC turbine you can get, then go where you really want to go. Compass is hiring, they need people, of course they're going to tell you what you want to hear to get you there. Good luck!

Ten months to get the rest of that PIC time with a good qol...stay put! I don't know if things are changing but there are some strange things about the compass compensation package that I have heard. Besides, they are another regional at a major that already bones two regionals...and is still in bankruptcy.

10 Captains per airplane??? Are you sure they weren't smiling when they told you that?

October of 2008 for Captain upgrade?

Stay put unless you expect Compass to be your career airline.

Folks who feel the same way I do are slowly making their way into hiring / recruiting departments and as this occurs Compass pilots WILL NOT get hired to the extent those who understand the situation can control the outcomes at their airlines.

Plus, if your reasoning for going to Compass is to flow to NWA, mainline is hiring right now. So put in your app with the big boys and keep building the PIC turbine.

Dude, better quality of life and actual destinations to go to. Even the ability to jumpseat on any carrier here in americas, its not a bad deal. No more sitting in a hotel or apartment all day. Lemme guess, Empire? Well if its turbine PIC you are looking at, you are going to get it a lot sooner at an airline as you will be flying around 90 hours a month. So if you do the math, it will be close to the same time for you to get your thousand if it is Oct. this year. Though 1500 is competitive these days, good luck. Another type always looks good and with glass time its much better. Its always your choice.
