What's your crashpad like?

As you know they come in many different flavors and setups. Just curious.

House or Apartment?
Own room? / Own bathroom?
Amenities like digital cable & high-speed internet?
Use a car or 24-hour airport shuttle?

Hotel room at the motel 6 1/2 in Presque Isle, Maine. No highspeed anything. With the piece of sh!t phone lines, I'm lucky if I connect at 14.4.

The 24 hour shuttle is a taxi cab ride @ 3 bucks each way.

I do get 1/2 off at the hotel restaurant though.

I use my fifth wheel trailer. Instead of parking it in the driveway at home, I park in a spot close to the airport. Works pretty well. Satellite tv, refrig and microwave, what else does a pilot need.

When I was in MIA our crack house was just off the end of the runway and just a few feet away from the train tracks. Needless to say it was noisy at all hours of the day/night. For a tip the Dollar rent a car van would drop us at the front door. And on the first of the month the lady that ran the place would stock us with several cases of beer and soda and an endless supply of popcorn.

"Crack House" - How Funny!

I've been to at least a few crashpads that should have been referred to this way. I'll have to remember that.

We have an apartment that has very attractive strippers dancing at all hours, and they are always looking to get laid! Yeah if that was true I sure as he!l wouldn't be on here right now.

My crashpad is usually the AmeriSuites at the Atlanta airport...however, after this week, I'll be living in my base, so no more hotels. I did the crash pad thing for many years, and vowed, NO MORE!! No more sharing a house/apt with 10 guys, sleeping on the floor or in a room with 4 bunk beds, etc. Hanging around with 4 or 5 guys sitting around in their underwear watching MTV. All to save a few bucks. Like I said.....no more. Even if and when I move out of my base for a more permanent location in which to settle down, it will be back to hotels, or sharing an apt with a roomate(s) where we each have our own room.

Ahhh, isn't this a glamorous lifestyle? They don't cover this topic in the Embry-Riddle brochure the high school seniors get at the guidance counselors office!!

I had a interesting crash pad once in IND. It was decent, a house, but definitely looked like a crack-house from the outside. Several bedrooms, two story, right next to Jed Clampet and his kin.
