Umm they are pissed off! I was on NWA last week 4 times the s l o w taxi is 100% in full swing.

Maybe they don't have the intersection data, we don't. At a few airports we have the standard intersection data, ie DFW, and BWi, other wise, it's full length.

What types of AC? What do they weigh? Where are they going? Big factors... they may need full length.

Keep this in mind, if you even so much as abort and ding the paint on something or have a blown tire, one of the questions you will get is: "why didn't you use the full length?".

I know at TWA there were enough people who had been "at the long, green table" to know that they ask those kind of questions. Whether it's an FAA violation or an NTSB investigation, they will pick apart every single decision you make during that particular flight and shove each "mistake" right up your a$$.

"You had the full length available, why did you choose to reduce the available runway for takeoff?"... TC

I'll will use the intersection T/O if I have the data and I'm good to go. If I'm good to go, the FAA has no real reason to complain if they signed off on the procedure. If I can't keep it on the runway, it won't be because runway behind me.

I agree...but this is the FAA we are talking about...just because they signed off on it does not mean they will agree with your decision

If I applied their, the FAA approved, procedure correctly, they can't use that against me. They may try, but lawsuits are something the FAA avoids, too.

SWA's overrun in MDW was an FAA approved procedure, arguably, incorrectly applied. The captain is doing the carpet dance to be sure, but a case has been made that he followed the correct procedure, approved by SWA and the FAA. I don't want to get too involved in this accident, so let's not go there.

I don't push the limits. I give myself plenty of cushion.

I have often wondered about real world high speed aborts. I have never done one...sim's not included. There have been times on a hot day when V1 is called out it sure does not look like there is much runway left.

Typical FAA....."yeah, we signed off on this, but we didnt really think you would do it".

How many times have you seen a Checklist Revision that has the FAAs signature on it, but there are errors ( either words spelled wrong or items deleted).
